I have 15x6 steelies that I'm getting powder coated too. How inches of lift you got there, Ol' Blue? How tall were the pizza cutters? I'm in love with the steelie and thin tire combo look too.

BTW, what was the size of those pizza cutters? Have to admit, I prefer the pizza cutter look. The BFG AT KOs ride much better.

Yes that is stock height and the tires are 31x10.5x15. Very close to the stock tire that came on it L78-15-8 on-off-road.

Re: Who's running steelies on their K5 - post your pics

I decided that for my first post on this forum, I'd wake this dormant 3-1/2 year old thread back up... Since I'm running steelies :-)

Here is my 71 that I picked up several months back. This is the second K5 Blazer I've owned (I owned a blue 72 Blazer from 1991 to 1996)

The wheels are 15x10's wrapped in 35x12.50 General XT's. Instead of painting the wheels white, I decided to do them rally-wheel style: I painted the entire wheels black, then re-sprayed the fronts silver before snapping on the dog dishes.

15x8 stock steelies.. wrapped in 33x10.50 BF K02. But hopefully, sometime this year I will be able to swap out axles to 3/4 tons... But I will be sticking with steelies.. just not sure if I want 16's or 17's wrapped in 35x12.5's.

Thanks!

I'm running +6" springs all around, plus 3 inch body pucks.

I'd like to bring it down a couple more inches, but if I removed the body spacers, then I'd have to re-work the exhaust... and swapping to +4 springs would run me close to a thousand bucks; so, Nope- Probably not gonna happen.

Besides, one major cool-factor with the body lift is that working on the chassis is WAY easier- I can get to the fuel sender and the vent lines easily, and changing the plugs is a breeze, since I can go in from the side gap between the fenders and the frame.

I was always a guy who felt that body lifts were the sissy way out, but now that I'm getting older, I gotta say: There is a LOT of value in any extra convenience you can find when you are wrenching on the truck, hahaha

Truck looks great, did you install the side steps, I have the same steps and kinda confused on mounting them...

I was suprised you said body lift, you did a great job getting the bumpers to look correct. It sits really well.

The side steps on mine came with the truck. I don't love them, but I also don't hate them; and they do the job they're supposed to do, so I have left 'em alone. I would like it if they were about 3-4 inches wider on each side.

The little crescent shaped brackets on mine are welded to the rocker-pan (which is a bonus that comes with having clean, rust free Az sheetmetal)

Re: Who's running steelies on their K5 - post your pics

Figured i would, try and bring this post back up to date. these are the tires i ended up going with on my 15x6 steelies (34x9.5r15 tsl super swampers). However, i ended up finding a set of 15x8s that are at the powder coater as i type. What are you guys running on you 15x8s with a 4in lift?
