Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Decided to keep the tow hooks bare metal so threw some clear coat on them. Went to lowes to get new bolts for them and found out my frame didn't have holes pre-drilled from factory.

Does anybody have a template for where to drill? Also, what would be the best way about doing that? The electric drill I have took a while getting through the tool box when I was installing my cb whip I can only imagine what it'll be like for the frame..

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Received new headlight bezels from another member a few days ago. Funny story, so the day they came in I opened them and had them sitting infront of the family room tv with my family. My cat jumped in on top of the bubble wrap and started spinning around. My buddy made a joke about the cat taking a S#1T on them and I went to take the cat out. Of course the women in my family were up in arms saying how cute she was and to leave her alone....

Long story short... the tail raised, the back twitched, and my newly opened parts got a golden shower ... Needless to say I was NOT happy.

First pic is of the old bezel/fading.

Second is of the new bezel polished up

Third pic is with new bezels on top and old on bottom. Not much of a difference at a distance but looks a lot better up close.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Just finished painting my sway bar and am waiting for the cc to dry. Didn't have anything to hang the sway bar from and my buddy brought his engine stand over bringing my number of engine stands in the garage to two so....

Adapt and overcome!!!

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Still looking for a mild cam to put in the 305 before I pull it. Just looking for a cam that I don't need to use new rocker arms/springs for. I'd like to keep this "refresher" on the cheaper side as I don't plan on dumping a lot of money into this motor.

Any ideas or products y'all know about that fits that description please feel free to chime in. Open to all ideas.

I have never seen that cat use the bathroom other than her kitty litter. She came in my room earlier and started sniffing your wiper blade. This time I was sure to remover her from the room. I wont ever trust her around car parts EVER again lol.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

At least the wiper blade is stainless steel, so the ammonia from your cat can be buffed off. hahaha

Went to the upholstery shop today and got a quote of $300 and I supply the material to do the seat. Check out the blue vinyl I picked out when you get some time.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

I like the way your going with your seat Jon. I haven't picked out how I want to do mine yet but i'll worry about that later.

Might have found a cam ill be putting in the 305. http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=1991

Pulled the bench seat this morning and found a few surprises. Maybe ill be calling this build "dead mouse"

And yes, that is a dead mouse that was under my seat....

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

Got the Boggers mounted on the 2 rims. Did some digging and found out they're made by Carlisle Tire and Wheel Company. Not the most popular so they took these off the website. I had to call the California warehouse to confirm they still had my size. Ordered through Discount Tire so they'll be here soon.

You can kind of see the difference between the new rim and the 15x7 rim in the second picture, I dont know if I like them so wide yet but I'm happy. The side lugs hit a little if I turn all the way so I need to figure out that. I don't like trimming fenders.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

When I replaced the oil pan gasket the truck has been parked being cranked up every other day since I still need to replace the vacuum modulator/hose. When I drove it down the driveway to swap tires I noticed a strange grinding sound so today I decided to investigate.

Being that the sound was only occurring while the vehicle was in motion under torque I guessed the sound was coming from the TC cover... Can see a little wear on the teeth and rough spots on the cover...

Can see a little contact happening on the inside of the cover...

2nd pic is after 30min of pressure washing, soaking in degreaser, and scrubbing with a brush... Almost tempted to throw it in the sandblaster... Almost.

Looks like the truck is coming along nicely. That mouse must of ended his life with the pistol...lol. I'm afraid to look under the seat of my truck. Might find Jimmy Hoffa......

Very good enough truck I'd say. New to 47-present and I love watching these builds. Im starting to work on a short 78 C-15. The feed back has been awesome. First attempt at a 'build', loving every minute and never have to wonder where any extra money I have will be spent. You're going to do the rocker welding yourself? Think that could be done w my old red Lincoln stick welder? Neighbor is excellent welder. Im going low but man, a short sq body K truck will always be in my wish bucket. Man, mine is high for 2wd, never see em this high.

That's the plan. Never welded before in my life but a good friend of mine has two so ill be practicing soon with one of them. Gotta stop that stuff before it spreads too far.

Love the two tone on your truck. Was thinking about keeping the same color but going with a white two tone with mine. I think I'm going to repaint it back to the original color. Maybe my next square will be a two toned crew cab dually.

Just waiting on $$$ and a cherry picker before I pull the motor. Went out and pulled the rest of the interior. Didn't have too much rust under the mats when I pulled them

Random hole on the drivers side floor. Most likely ill paint it and leave it there so I can run some coax for the CB through it.

Last picture you can see whats left of the manual choke cable... Apparently it doesn't work.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.

There was ALOT more dirt under the mats and seat than I anticipated... After about 3 minutes of vacuuming and sweeping I found this. Any idea what its for? Looks about the size for the grille emblem.

Looking for some advice on when/how I should tackle this rust... Also any tips for polishing the aluminum mat trim and cleaning the floor mat.
