Here's a pic supposedly from a 70 K5 350 with 28k miles that shows a heat riser. Maybe 307 motors used a different air cleaner?

Beautiful truck! I can't believe these 102,000 mile vehicles are out there. My '72 had 113,000 miles on it in 1977 when my dad bought it used! It had 248,000 when I got it from him in '87 and is pushing 350k now.

Enjoy. My own preferences tend toward the "Resto-mod", just be as good a steward as your Uncle regardless!

Thanks for posting the pics...that's exactly what I needed to see. Now if I could just find all of that for sale somewhere. I have seen some other pictures of these heat sheids with a back plate that helps secure it. I assume yours has that plate too?

Anyway looks like a WTB ad is my best route once I become a premium member and get access.

By the way, its great to see pics of the Jimmy back when it was newer. I hope to get some of those from my Uncle and retain some of the history.

You are welcome and thank-you for reminding me that there was still one more piece of the heat riser shroud. I found the missing piece so here are pics of it too. When you advertise a want to buy I am 99% sure than any 1970 350-4bbl truck uses the same parts but with these pics maybe you can confirm what you are shopping for.

I see "courtesy light" on your spid, where is that located? I remember a Blazer my cousin had with a light that would come on under the dash when the doors were opened.

Hey DAC,
Its been a while but I wanted to share some pics of my Jimmy when it was new. 1st one is right after it was picked up from the factory in St.Louis in 1970 and driven to North Dakota on the way back to Washington. 2nd pic is that same winter. Wish I could find a buck that nice! Last pic is just last week after I installed a 4" lift.

The a awesome jimmy there. My blazer is the same blue. Not in as nearly as good A shape though. Good job. Blazers should Have came Stock with a four inch lift and 35s. It just looks perfect on these trucks.

Hey Pkz71, thanks for the update and cool historic pics. Your uncle put a pretty stout winch and bumper on it right away. Interesting rack on the roof along with the big rack on the buck! It is still a beautiful GMC and great family member.

The only pic I have of our Jimmy when it was almost new is damaged pretty bad from going through a flood in 1972 and we never even bought another camera for a few years.

More pics of yours then and now are always welcome!

Agreed! I love the looks of these trucks lifted with taller tires just like that but I'm kinda glad they aren't taller stock! I don't know if I could get my tired butt up in it then!-LOL! Mine is stock and 31's about right for me and the wife. Mom was able to climb up into it until she was 78 so we have a few good years left!

I'm sure it'll be tough in another twenty years. But for now I can still jump in and go. When I can't jump in ill put in a lift elevator up to My driver seat so it can just pull me up into the seat. Lol
