Re: Sad sad day, sold my truck
I feel your pain. BUT... its a truck. You can always get another one. I kind of feel the same way you do on show trucks. I went overboard with mine.
Your family should always come first anyhow, without them who cares about the truck. Good luck today! Now theres real happiness! |

Re: Sad sad day, sold my truck
That is a nice 4x4. I wouldn't wanna bang it up either.
I, like a lot of others, have a rusty truck with stock paint, and aftermarket dents and scratches. I built it to go fast, and have fun. I couldn't imagine having to fret over a door ding in a parking lot, or road grime. It's still used to make dump runs, and haul dirt and whatever else will fit in the 8 foot bed. There are lots of these trucks still out there. maybe you'll hook up with another one. Gary

Re: Sad sad day, sold my truck
Sorry to see it go.
Your dilemma about paint (and the fear of it getting scratched or dented) is why I'm seriously of thinking of painting my '68 satin light blue. I have put nearly 2000 miles on it since August, and I want to continue driving the truck. I like the way the truck looks now (faded paint) but it had some damage to the paint on the passenger side, so I have to paint it to make it all one color. If it weren't for that, I would do anything. I think I'm going to do the body work, and have a gallon paint mixed in the factory color in a satin finish.

Re: Sad sad day, sold my truck
It's a sad day, and I feel your pain. I had a '67 GTO that I bought from the original owner back in 1982. It was fully documented and had original protect-o-plate. It had the original engine and 4-spd transmission. 20-years later, and very few miles, I sold the goat for reasons similar to yours. Before I sold it, I kicked it around and finally decided to sell it. When I sold it I got my asking price. Granted, this was before CraigsList, Barrett Jackson and Mecum. At the time I got a fair price, but today I couldn't afford to buy that car back. Am I sad I sold it? No… Not really. I try not to let it bother me. At the time it was the right thing for me to do. Not only for me, but for my family as well. I made the best decision based on my personal circumstances. Right now it might be hard, but if I were you I would try to justify the reason for selling it and don't look back. You can't change it, so move forward with the thought that you made the right decision based on your circumstances. Good luck.
