Question about two-tone paint on 1973 GMC
First, let me thank you guys for having a great forum. I've only posted a couple times, but have spent plenty of hours scrolling through tech questions and answers for both my daughter's '72 C-20 and my '73 GMC. I'm not new to wrenching or this era of truck, but I've grown to find this forum nearly as useful as my stack of manuals. So far, every time I've been stumped on something, sure enough some other member has been too.
I picked this 73 up about a month ago and love the Old Man Special look. All I've done is wheels and hubcaps to replace the later model Chevy mags that were on it, ditched the camper shell, added the sport mirrors (from the classifieds on here) and am working my way through various small mechanical issues and chasing oil leaks. The interior will be next, probably towards the end of the year. No big plans to make it a show truck or anything wild. At least if 594 Bronze looks like this orange/red color. (I can see they didn't paint the dash and door jambs, etc and it's very close to that factory paint) What I wondered is if the roof would have been this color from the factory or if the previous owner who did a paint job 10-ish years ago decided to deviate from the factory white roof and paint it the body color instead. I've googled around and most show a white roof when in two-tone, but GMC's aren't as plentiful, and I know they deviated with trim and options a little compared to Chevys. So, should this roof be white or did it come this way? (I'm probably gonna paint it white anyway, but thought I'd ask...) 2. Does anyone know of an all in one speaker box/bluetooth amp that fits behind the seat in these rigs? I want to leave the junky stereo in place and use my iPhone instead. I don't need a radio, CD or any of that stuff. I'm sure I could build a custom box and assemble one, but I bet somebody makes one already, I just haven't been able to find it. Thanks! |
