Re: Epic Vancouver road trip!!
Here are a few recommendations:
1) Take some fresh water fishing gear with you (fly or cast) You will come across some really nice lakes and streams that will offer a really nice 2-3 hr break from driving....maybe tie it in with the odd lunch. 2) Take camping gear and some very comfortable camp chairs. They are some great camping spots along the way including the provincial campground (Recreation area) in Rockcreek (slightly west of Osoyoos). Its right on the Kettle river and you can spend the evening fishing for some nice rainbows. This is just one of many camping opportunities. 3) If you can, take some mountain bikes and/or a canoe....again, some great opportunities as far as the great outdoors go's in this province....its really something else. Plus these offer a minor break from a day long butt sitting exercise, which can sometimes get a little tedious after while. My two bits. Coley

Re: Epic Vancouver road trip!!
I think the best advice I could offer is to "keep your schedule loose". In that I mean truck on down the road and if you see something that catches your eye take the time and turn around and go back and check it out if you want to. Remember that "the trip is the goal" not to get to a certain point on the map. If you make it one day great, if not, the next, Have fun.
Take time to smell the roses.

Re: Epic Vancouver road trip!!
Ohh man I'm getting excited! Taking off wednesday at noon. I spent the weekend going thru the truck and checking everything. Oil change, trans and diff levels topped off, driveline greased. Front end greased. Brakes checked and in good shape. Front wheel bearings checked for play. Fixed a couple electrical issues.
I think we're gonna try to go to the island. Either Victoria, or up to Tofino. Never been across the the channel . And yes, we will be camping some nights and staying with family/friends other nights. Thanks for your enthusiasm guys! I will definitely keep you all updated and keep the pictures rolling in!

Re: Epic Vancouver road trip!!
Back 20 years ago when I used to drive a 72 as a daily driver I took my truck from Saskatoon to Osoyoos. You get a lot of attention driving a classic. I always carried spare fuel pump, water pump, Hei ignition parts, belts, hoses, fuses, a couple rocker arms and some fluids in a plastic tote. Over the years those spares have made trips a lot more enjoyable. Popped a rocker arm more than once on small block Chev's with a few miles on them.

Re: Epic Vancouver road trip!!
Sorry guys! Just got off work and I'm assembling my tools and supplies etc. Just half a day of work tomorrow then its time to hit the road !!
Here is my fuel tank and storage box setup. The box is lockable so I can keep my tools and a couple bags in there.

Can't wait to see the island.
Just went to grab a spare fuel pump at Canadian Tire (the only place open atm) but they dont have one in stock. Oh well. I'll grab one in the morning or along the way somewhere.

Re: Epic Vancouver road trip!!
No fishing rods...sorry to all you dedicated anglers, I just have never had a passion for all that! I am, however, bringing my longboard along in case I come across any paved inclines... .
Well, I deem the chevy roadtrip-ready. Everything is double checked. I even have a brand new spare tire! Just have to pack the other misc. things. Clothes and such. We're going as far as Calgary tomorrow and will stay with a buddy. Don't worry, I WILL keep you all updated with progress and pics. And thanks for all your input so far! In the meantime...here's a couple pics from a few weeks back.

I just remembered you posted a route map in the first post so you are doing a little of both.
