Re: Sorting suspension out
Yoshi, don't mean to muddy up this thread, but need to see if we can clear up some items. You stated yours was all mustang II. Mustant II came with only 9-1/4" rotors and very small pad about 1-1/4" X 5". Here is a pic of when I changed my original style MII rotors to the lager GM on my 32 Chevy in 89-91 years, you can see the difference. (GM on the left and MII on right. ) Your adapter is also aftermarket. MII was different. Yours looks like a forged piece and now most are flat steel, etc. Your calipers appear to be GM metric, uses bolts, Ford had clips. Some kits used Granda rotors and GM calipers, this may be what you have ONLY A QUESS, not saying. I will try to find some more info and post up whatever I find. Hope to get this cleared up...Jim

Re: Sorting suspension out
Your help is very much appreciated. I assumed this was all Mll stuff, I think the 10 1/2" rotors are ford lug pattern, as you say maybe Granada

Re: Sorting suspension out
I'm thinking 2 options either turn discs down to 10 1/2" or make some brackets

Re: Sorting suspension out
Cut a couple of brackets out of 3/8" plate today allowing an extra 1/4" to move the calipers outwards

Re: Sorting suspension out
yoshi, here's an old pic from back in 89 or so. They welded in a threaded bung on the bracket. If I remember correctly there is a left and right. The bung is offside to the side, so check that closely...Jim

Re: Sorting suspension out
Thanks Jim, on your pic it looks like the threaded bung is welded in after a slot has been cut into the plate. On this pic it looks like it sits on top. It may depend on thickness of the plate. This is 1/4" but I've opted for 3/8" so I'll have to work out measurements. Any idea what thread the other 2 holes are in the plate? I'm thinking either 12mm fine thread or 7/16 unf

Re: Sorting suspension out
Today I managed to get back on with fitting the 375lb spring. I raised the truck up & placed axle stands in place. Then I put the jack under the lower arm & jacked it up to refit the lower ball joint.

Re: Sorting suspension out
I decided not to fit the 2" dropped spindle as I didn't know what springs were fitted & what would happen when I fitted the new spring

Re: Sorting suspension out
It turns out I should've fitted them. The spring was 3 1/2" taller but must've been a higher lb too as its now 27 1/2" from floor to wheel arch lip

Re: Sorting suspension out
yoshi, my experence with the stock springs is that they settle down after about 50 miles of driving. So drive it some and then check what the height is. Almost forgot how did you make out with the brake brackets, etc.?..Jim

Re: Sorting suspension out
I ended up turning the discs down to 10 1/2". Here's how it looks at the moment. The disc is just touching the lower control arm but that'll change when I fit the dropped spindles

Re: Sorting suspension out
What's the arm called that runs from the lower arm to the frame? Looks like I need some new rubbers

Re: Sorting suspension out
Now with the 2" dropped spindles fitted, after fitting the springs & spindles it sits about 2 1/4" higher than it was to start with

Re: Sorting suspension out
It will probably settle a little more too. You have a PM.

How much roughly might it drop after settling?
