kworst than utter nonsence. because sooner or latter some one else will claim to have one and then others will start popping up and on ebay. then some clown who woked or GM will pop up and validate all this BS. It will turn this web site into a war zone based on who want to believe this garbage and who does not, stop it now. before it ruins this website like it had done to others. like areally good pontiac web site that got ruined that way. too many clowns controlling the info so that some buddy will try to slip in a ringer and have it all validated by refering back to these posts. It never happened and only crooks will claim that it did. lets not let greed ruin this website so that few crooks can exploit and capitalise on ignorance, gulability and trust.

Re: Ultra Rare 1972 GMC SS Sierra

Mike 16, I really can't see anyone taking this thread seriously. It was just a April Fools joke. And a very funny one at that. There are plenty of clues in the original post to show that it is a April Fools joke.

Over Easter weekend,
my cousin Bunny
Grandpa Peter
Rabbit Valley Road
dealership, Cottontail Chevy/GMC.
Mr. Cottontail
egg stains
Peter's wife April said he would be a fool to sell his truck.

I just can't imagine someone using a April Fools joke to validate a rare truck. Pops admitted that it was a April Fools joke in post #23

Quote:"I spent a couple of hours PhotoShopping that GMC and the fake SPID. I have created my own SPID file and font to use later on and thought this would be a good place to use it. Of course the engine bay photo is from a 1969 Camaro.

I think the April Fool's joke is on me because the more I look at this truck the more I like it! I would love to build one just for a different look. It shouldn't be too hard to pull the parts together. Hmmm...."
End Quote

I just can't see a April Fools joke running the integrity of our hobby or the integrity of this website. Pops does a April Fools joke every year and I can't wait to see the joke he comes up with next year. He is a great contributor to this website. Also a heck of a kind man. I'm proud to call him my friend and thankful that people like him exist.

Re: Ultra Rare 1972 GMC SS Sierra

Oh My Gosh!, Somebody killed the rabbit and the sky is falling! I certainly hope this doesn't keep Pop from entertaining us next year. Not to defend Mike 16's comments but he does kinda have a little insight as to how some things have gone. In the antique classic boat world we have some self proclaimed experts that weren't even born when the last production wood boat left the factory. Yet the "knowledge" they have gained by surfing the inter web and misreading books has inflated their egos to a point where a lot of the community have bought into their expertise. Which only inflates their egos more. It's their way or the highway. If you read it or find it on the internet it must be true! Ok, I am done. Let's all build SS trucks and show up next April 1st at the 30th annual SS truck Championships?

Re: Ultra Rare 1972 GMC SS Sierra

Mike, I can see why you are concerned, after seeing a thing like this go that way on another site. But this thread won't be the one referenced to support any such claim. I have my reactions too, and post with passion at times, then wish I hadn't when I realize I came on too strong.

Let's say this thread in some bizarre way sparked claims of the same rare truck for sale on Ebay and it get's bid up to some crazy high figure based on this claim and someone buys it. GOOD! Any fool who pays a huge chunk of money for an item they know nothing about, nor verified with someone who does, deserves to be taught a lesson. Money doesn't make you smarter, in fact, often it does quite the opposite. And, the best thing about getting into a bad situation is now you know what you'll never do again! Lesson learned. There's saying: A fool and his money are easily parted. Shame on the seller who took advantage and they will be taught a bigger lesson one day

sorry for the rant.

Its just that I recall a post previos to this refering to n SS truck.

And its true that certain types have gone on other websites and started contraversies regarding BS that never occured.

I would hate for this site to be ruined by those scams.

Re: Ultra Rare 1972 GMC SS Sierra

that truck is similar to the one my uncles cousins roommates grandfathers brothers neighbors bosses nephew ordered in 72, but he had real connections at gm and able to use the friends and family order form to check off a 702CI v12 powerplant for his SS Sierra. sadly there are no pictures of it available, but it was left in the barn after the great cattle famine of 1974 forced them to abandon the farm and move to the big city with 1200 original farm driven miles on it. I wonder if it will show up in one of those barn find articles being used as a chicken coupe

Good man. I never had an SS or an RS truck, but I've had quite a few Z84s!

The difference in this board and others is most of the members here know their stuff much better than other boards. I don't believe this board as a whole could be truly swayed into thinking something like this truck was actually produced.

Re: Ultra Rare 1972 GMC SS Sierra

You're right about members here being too savvy to buy such a claim. Nobody in this thread was buying it. Mike probably had an immediate reaction to the claim and didn't really read it through and absorb it, or other posts. Just a hunch

People search info on 67-72 GM Trucks and this site is the first result pretty much always. That's how we got so many members. So, many non-members read only the info they are searching on a single visit here. That's one of the reasons you see me setting things straight when I do. I'm not the know-it-all type of guy, but I feel the site has a level to maintain as the best source for (accurate) info on these trucks.

You know, some SPIDs do read "Cheyenne Super Sport". No lie. But, it's just another variation in the description of a YE3 Cheyenne Super.

no fault no foul, reading it again I relaise what a joke it was,

just my knee jerk reaction,

do we agree that no SS trucks came from the factory during this period.

just to protect those of who are new to this market
