Are you talking about restomodair? If so, you can install vents wherever you want as long as you run a duct to them.

I know its been awhile but here is some pic's of restomod air, I put center vents where ash tray was and side vents under dash, controls just left of radio, unit works great and customer service is great

Have used Vintage Air in numerous vehicles, on my C-10 I built this so I didn’t have to butcher the dash….
