Re: Disk Brake swap. 84 front end onto 68 C10
To do the springs. Use a spring compressor. They will usually loan one at the LAPS here in the states. The factory Booster and MC from a 71 up will work but the bracket and rod is needed. It does stick out from the firewall a lot. The drum set-up has a distribution block but the disc is a proportioning valve unit and you will need it.

Digging this one up from ages ago!
I have been collecting the parts to start the swap. Finally began disassembling yesterday. Pulled the front clip.

Re: Disk Brake swap. 84 front end onto 68 C10
Ran into some wierdness. Not quite sure what year the disk front end I have is from. Made the assumption it is a 1975.
I had two center link sections in my shed, and I got confused which one belongs to the disk front end. One of the center links had a smaller diameter drag link. The 68 had a larger diameter drag link, I definitely wanted to stick with the larger diameter drag link. So anyway, that was odd....

Re: Disk Brake swap. 84 front end onto 68 C10
found a center link in the shed with the correct larger diameter drag link.
bolted the cross member in. This was really easy. Had to enlarge the side frame holes to use 1/2" grade 8 bolts. Drilled the one of four side holes from scratch. Generally very simple though. Stopped here, as I was without the 9/16" ubolts to mount the control arms. My order arrived the next day.

Wire wheeled the springs and then zinc primered & bedlinered them.
Got the lower control arms, upper control arms, and spindles attached. Also the tie rods.

Re: Disk Brake swap. 84 front end onto 68 C10
Next day I packed the new bearings, mounted the rotors, and brake calipers.
Also mounted the power brake booster. Noticed the booster is interfering with the air filter/snorkel thingy.... not sure what to do about this.

Re: Disk Brake swap. 84 front end onto 68 C10
At least the bottom side is pretty! I have been driving it for a week with the front bumper off because I like looking at all the shiny bits!
Having trouble getting used to the power brakes. I keep my foot high on the pedal, use to using my weight to push it... Definitely a worthwhile upgrade! oh, I modified the air intake/snorkel to offset the carburetor hole so that it cleared the new brake booster. Some shabby welds there.
