Re: Upsidedown fuel pump??
Aha, that explains why it looked so different. The 4.3l was only available for 2 years before everything went to fuel injection, and the mechanical pump was eliminated. I've personally never replaced one. The 4.3 fuel pump mounting surface is at an angle similar to the cylinder bank. The small block fuel pump mounting surface is vertical. That's why the pumps are different because they interface with the push rod at different angles. It's also why it wasn't looking right to everyone.
Welcome to the States, welcome to the board, and congrats on your new project. Like Mongo said, show us some pics of the truck. Mike

Very nice, and super clean! I love the all original look, especially the hub caps. Nice score.

Re: Upsidedown fuel pump??
thanks folks. I'm often asked "what am I going to do with it, lift, lower, tweak, but I kinda like it stock and clean. I don't know how will last in the AZ sun, until I get some window tint installed but I just put in the seat covers and it certainly gives it that retro 80's look. Also has the original windshield, so I won't mess with that though the rubber seal's looking a bit dry and perished so it's on the list to be replaced. New to this and not quite sure why my photo's rotate when I upload them!
