Both those trucks are absolutely gorgeous... and awesome inspiration for my own '62 K10 long-step!
Mine was originally dark blue, though... which I like better.

Yeah, I would love to find one, I almost think that 62 K10 was from where I live in Oregon, if not its twin is here.

I got lucky--Of all the stock colors for these trucks, I prefer the factory dark blue, and for 4x4s I prefer long-step, and that's what I found.

(of course when I'm done with it, it's going to be like George Washington's ax--all original; only replaced the head twice and the handle four times.

My 63 GMC has the same master/hydraulic clutch.

1960 1963 1st series frames were the same GM Part number 3813808 and 07 for 127 Wheel base and Like Bruce pointed out the bumper bolt spacing tells you this is a first series 1963 truck. These part numbers apply to the frame rail left and right but not as an assembly. 1963 Second series frame rail is 3820303 and 04. My 1963 GMC is a Second design frame, same frame as a Chevy K10 and K20. These are the original stencil numbers on my 63 frame.



Also this 1963 GMC second series is a dual master cylinder truck.

Interesting on frame numbers by that I would guess that the EARLY 63 (K) cab is a carryover 62 (wider front mounts) cab same (C or K) and obviously a 62 bumper ..... Other thing which steering column (turn switch) did the early 63 (K) use? 62 or 63?

Something else that was brought up about the chrome vent windows. According to the 1960 and 1961 Data books , the chrome vent windows are 1960 only on a Chevy and both 1960 and 1961 on a GMC . These chrome vent assemblies are available aftermarket now and people are just installing them in what ever they have. This restorer obviously restored the 1962 K10 and 1963 K20 in the same fashions with the Custom Comfort option which included the custom seat cloth and custom dash knobs . However being a Cardinal Red truck the seat should have the red vinyl not the fawn.

I was wondering about the chrome parts my self NICE truck dont get me wrong BUT to score 997 out of 1000 must not have been much competition A guy told me that at a corvette show what made the difference in first and second place was that on the second place car they had assembled the engine AFTER painting the block and heads so there was NO PAINT on the head gaskets FIRST place had PAINT on the gaskets as would have been from the factory..... Talk about picky LOL but that was the better restoration

I agree on the details 60-66, which I doubt judges at VCCA are even aware of. It appears both the K 10 and K 20 were restored by the same person. A few years back, there was a batch of '65 and '66 1/2 and 3/4 ton 2WD pickups offered by the same person, restored to very high calibers. I wonder if this is all work of the same person, if so, we would love to have him on this site!

I believe I know the restorer. If it's him, I met him at a VCCA event some years ago. A talented guy for sure. He is aware of this site and might check in from time to time, but when last we spoke did not spend too much time online. Obviously, he's busy in the shop. In addition to several trucks now (well, at least three) he's done a few super-fine period style rods.

I do not have much personal experience with the '60-'63 K series trucks, but every '63 C10/20 truck I have had/seen, has had a mechanical clutch. The '63 Chevy K10 Suburban I had years ago, had factory power brakes with a mechanical clutch. Additionally to my knowledge the '63 GMC's retained the hydraulic clutch.

Agree, on the type of restoration done, it has a lot of reproduction parts, rather then reconditioning the origional parts, .....
