6.0, 5.3, 4.8....I'm not sure it even matters. The turbo is doing all the work!

No, not at all.

He had a 6.0 in that Colorado before the 4.8 with a different cam and turbo that put down just over 1000 rwhp.

I think its hard to recommend a cam without the turbo size. I am surprised neither of them asked for it.

I am in the process of doing my turbo build just commenting to see what other people have to say. Oh and pictures because everyone likes those.

Looks like their size shows the 78 as a 75 hotside? All things considered seem like this would be a good option for room to grow and an ok spool time considering the 6.0 displacement.

I've read a ton of stuff on cleaning. It appears I can clean th exterior of the block with oven cleaner. I'll pressure wash after that. My concern is getting oven cleaner on ant internal bearing surfaces. I'd oil right after cleaning to prevent flash rust but can oven cleaner possibly damage or microscopically pit any of these detrimental surfaces? I will try to avoid them but if I clean all the carbon out of the inside of the block, inevitably some of the cleaner will contact the bearing surfaces. Same goes for the crank.

The Pistons I thing I'll chem dip and clean the ring landings with an old ring.

Pretty happy with the way the intake turned out. I was told o could use a set of ctsv 55lb injectors and they'll swap right over. If this ends up being the case it seem like a good option

Still moving forward little by little. Decided to do cam bearings but having an issue with the clocking of the oil holes in the first bearing. Just need verification. I'll get that figured out soon.

Block clean as a whistle. Started to prime and paint. All valves lapped and waiting for pac springs to arrive. Going with the Elgin cam mentioned earlier. It'll be here soon. Got a 320 grit 4.0" flex hone to match with new rings. Think the consensus is to gap both first and second ring right at .032?

I'll get some pics real soon. It's looking good.

I know you said you just ordered a cam, but the above isn't the cam Brian speced. The BTR TRUCK STAGE III CAM is listed here:

Specs are 218/224 .553/.553 113+3

I'm looking at the BTR Truck Stage IV cam for my NA 5.3 and thought the above specs were a little big for the truck stage III cam.


Also, have you read the Hot Rod magazine article where they turbo'd an LS motor? Very good insight I think...
