Ha-Ha-Ha!!!
Well, I must have gotten the last one!
I checked the tracking info on Friday, and It said that it had been delivered already....
I had previously informed ALL of the employees in the shipping area of the shop to NOT sign for this package, and to come get me to inspect and sign for it, so I knew that it couldn't be delivered already......

Then I saw this box in the shipping dock!

With this gaping hole in it!!

I was instantly furious that somebody signed for this item, and I was immediately on the phone to see what I might be able to do about it!!!
I already knew that I wouldn't have any recourse, but I thought it was worth a try....
It drove me crazy all day long, as I was waiting on a response from the shipping company before opening the package.

It turns out that the puncture hole in the box was to the underside of the hood. Had it been on the opposite side of the box, the hood would have definitely been damaged.

Here are some pics upon inspection...

Needless to say, I have looked it over really good, and I am impressed with how straight and flat that this thing looks!!!
The hood will get some finishing touches during the next few weeks/months, but I will probably move the progress to my build thread soon.

Glad to hear that you received the hood undamaged. That could have been bad, had that damage to the box been on the other side. Upon your initial inspection, how does the seam across the front look?

Wow, that's pretty. Wish that was available when I got my hood. I had to get the upper and lower front sections from LMC and have them replaced. Would have been lots of money ahead buying that believe me. You scored.

Hi All!

New to this forum and love it, wish I had found it sooner...

Just mocked up my new LMC hood last week, it fit unbelievably well, I also have new inner and outer fenders as well....

I am soooo glad that I did't have to deal with a messed-up hood! I already bought one used hood that didn't turn out to be what I was looking for!...I didn't need a second fail!
The seam along the front looked as good as the O.E. hood seam. I don't have any pics, but I was impressed with the quality level....If that's what you like.
I really don't care for the seam, and have already started the process of welding it up!...More to come on that!

I totally understand! I didn't want another hood to fix! I just wanted a hood that matched the quality level of the rest of the truck!

I realize that you purchased the hood from LMC, but who made it?
Was there a logo on the box?...Just curious.
The hood looks great BTW!!!

I noticed that both boxes say GM16051A. Am I correct by guessing it is the same manufacturer?

By the way, both of those hoods look great

Re: Has Anybody Purchased a New Steel Replacement Hood for their '64-'66???

surprising the aftermarket retooling has a positive comments

most i read about the aftermarket is; that they dont fit, needing adjustments ( as in cutting and welding them up to a line ), or they just tossed them because it was just junk from the start

glad that they came out well and anyone that has purchased it are pleased with them
