Re: Got her home!!
I agree, the Old School look of the side-mounted spare looks just right on a rugged 4X4. Nice truck BTW.

Re: Got her home!!
I just saw this in person. It's a great start to a really sweet truck. Ryan is a bit overwelmed with the thought of taking on the rust repairs. I've started out on so many cars and trucks that ended up being breathing life into what should have been a basket case. This one is anything but.

Re: Got her home!!
I agree but depending on what he finds when the rockers are off and the interior is out a one piece floor might be in order. Patching up a floor with 20 different pieces works but is so much work for a really less than beautiful result. Fenders are salvageable for sure. Doors might be too. With some luck the floor might look better than I'm thinking it is.

Opinions vary on OEM, refurbish, replacement, but try to keep as much of the original sheetmetal as possible. JMO! A fully "restored" vehicle with all new sheetmetal (doors, hood, fenders, etc.) is a 'rice burner' in disguise.

Any idea who’s this one is? I think this is where I’m headed with mine. This is original Color. Any idea what size of rubber this is? Also love the rear bumper! Very cool. Love the rear slider too!

Re: Got her home!!
That's a super cool truck. While some people may think it looks a little ratty with some rusty rockers and cab corners, it doesn't look that bad overall.
If you put some nice wheels and tires, bumpers, polished the paint and did whatever mechanical work you wanted it would be presentable and a great driver you wouldn't have to fret about.

Re: Got her home!!
Good luck on the restore. It's easier to take apart than put back together. Work steadily in small manageable chunks and it will be done quicker than you think.

Re: Got her home!!
Sounds like I may have a cab replacement that could be a better option for me. There is a guy redoing one right now and wants $3000 for it, primed and ready.
By the time I pay for a one piece floor, pay to have the cab sandblasted and primed, plus all the man hours of fixing (roof rail was rotted through in a few places too) - I think this is a solid deal. Question - it's a 1970 cab, are there any differences between it and my 71? I'll be using my current doors. |

Re: Got her home!!
Yes. 71 cab has raised pad for rear view mirror and a B pillar vent. Id caution against that swap.
