Last time I had the issue I tried moving the shifter into every position when starting and couldn't get anything to go. I dont believe this transmission has a neutral safety switch. I could be wrong. If it does maybe its just not hooked up. I can't remember if I did or not... |

Yep. Threw it in neutral and tried it and applied the brake in neutral - same story. I then tried it in every gear and reverse just for something stupid to try. I even bought a can of that "freeze off" CRC I think makes it and sprayed a can of that on the starter to try and cool it down and it still took over 16 hours to start back up. Hopefully I will time on Sunday to do some trouble shooting. |

I have 4 of these on 2 sbc and 2- 454 trucks.
2 have hot start relays 2 don't. And start everytime hot cold even too much initial timing. ACDelco Starter Part # 337-1022 https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Starter heat saturation was a problem after I "built" the engine (350) and added headers to my '76 Cutlass Salon. Had to double the heat blanket due to the headers. Never had a problem after that.

As a side bar. My son-law's I/O boat had a stater problem over the 4th. After a new starter and hours of "what-the-hell" we discovered TWO additional things. A bad starter ground due to painted block (crate engine had been recently installed). AND a bad relay.
Starts right up now. That Volvo Penta 4.3 sounds like a old Harley.
