I actually create wiring diagrams for my project vehicles when I make changes. I learned years ago that time makes memory fuzzy when it comes to modifications. There's no way a new shop can know what you've done without some kind of notes or diagrams.

Every build should have a build book with things like the wiring diagrams saved in it along with parts numbers and brands of all parts that may need serviced at some time in the future.

A three ring binder and a stack of page savers and some subject divider pages don't cost much but those things sure help later and can go with the truck if you sell it.


Even if you just stuff the printed instructions from the maker of the wiring kit you used along with your notes on specific items it will help you or anyone else who has to work on it later. Things like having the brand and part number of the belt (s) you used and the radiator hoses you made your hoses out of can save headaches down the line. Receipts for things that may need to be warrantied such as batteries, starters or alternators. If needed a separate section for receipts or bills of sale and documentation for major components so that you have them together at inspection time.
