702 GMC V-12 powered '62 GMC 1-ton

i noticed the link on the photo's and whent googling for edge of speed.com
i found a couple more there under spypics and coe truck
hes using a quickchange rearend that seriously offset , from wat i seen on the pics he has a chaindrive from the bellhouse to the automatic (seems to be) the engine is mounted solidly

Hello, 60-66ers:
Hope you'll let me slip in a little corner of your world, and twist bolts, burn metal, and help one another together.
As evident in the beginning pages of this build, it started with a Junk V-12 irrigation motor and a junk '91 Chev crewcab.
My original intent was to try to bring the old motor back to running condition. Then, like potatoe chips, I couldn't quit. With the helpful suggestions and support from other members of this site, this is where we're at today. My intent was never have a pretty truck. Due to twists and turns, and what was available, the truck somewhat evolved instead of built from a plan.
In the process, I got acquanted with other V-12 fans, and you're beginning to see some great work by the others. I hope we see more joining us here as their projects develope.
Most of us are older guys, but still kids at heart. We hope we can be an asset to this section.

Glad to see the V12 trucks My son (65gmc930 ) and I have a v12 project in the works on a little sillier scale 12V92 Detroit diesel on a modified IH chassis with a '39 fargo cab and fenders unless some GM nut sends us a Pre '55 cab and fenders

I'm thinking he is using a front wheel drive transmission, most likely a 4T65E from a Grand Prix or Impala. I wonder what he used to plug the extra output hole?

dont think so if he used a trans like that he wouldnt need to go round the engine but just weld the diff up and run the axle back pas the engine

I was close. Cadillac Eldorado and Olds Toronado TH425 Transmission. The early to mid '80s Riviera was also front engine, front drive.

Well, I might as well submit my old junker too. The engine is backed by a 4L80E with a Compushift controller. Here is video link of the engine running

seen that trans when they took it out of jay lenno's toronado that is a chaindrive.
that mightve been the trans he used he prolly put another trans tailend on it to make it hook up to a normal driveline

that webside i found the pics on is giving me quite a bit of grief , fr some reason explorer doesnt like the website

Glad you came, Locomotive Breath.
Adds some variety, it shows that no matter how they're packaged, we all have the same goal of restoring and preserving a piece of GMC history. Hard to believe the last V-12 produced was 43 years ago. Won't be too many years, 'til not many will still be running. Great engines!

After a two year search, and a grass fire, I got some better doors. It will take all four to make two. They still have the knee-knocker crease, but less than the others. Minimal rust, and heat didn't warp anything. The glasses and door latches still work. They're from a 4000 grain truck, so will probably leave big mirrors, until the bed is changed, if ever.
Progress slow, but even a turtle gets there if he keeps going.

Went back and checked tranny today.
Typical grain truck: 4speed/w2speed rear end.
