Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
I drove the dually around the block again last night & got the bed yanked off (no small task doing it solo). I should definitely be rolling in it come October. The 64 will follow....

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Don't worry guys, i have some better pics! no power steering sucks, it is near impossible to turn the wheels at a stop. We are trying to get it road legal for the the local whataburger cruise night tomorrow night. The bed has to come off and shocks be welded on. I have to get another wiper control switch because apperently the one we have is bad. We have an issue with the headlights that needs to be fixed, we have to come up with a high beam and blinker indicator, we have to put on the plates and rear plate light. Sounds like a lot but i think as long as i get some help on getting the bed off tonight, and guidance on how to mount the shocks, i can get almost everything else done tomorrow.
Owen gets credit for this next pic, i liked it enough it's now my iphone background! This is a pretty drastic change. Every time I look at this picture it reminds me of how far it's come, how much i've learned, how much i sacrificed, and how much i've gained.

Woah,,,,,,,Skip from page 1 to the last page and a tree sap covered fleet side turned into a dream machine step side.
New to the forum, and glad to be, cause I woulda cried if I read $300 for two SWB Chevy's when you first started this forum. I may be crying now, or is that dirt in my eye. Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
I looked back at the first page, we started 8/27/10 when we got it. Did not do much work until about 18-20 months ago. We did the most work in the last 8 months.
Quote:
I got home last night from work and Korbin had already started working on the issues we needed to make is street legal. We go the headlights working and the high beam indicator in the dash functional, the turn indicators work in the dash now and we got windsheild wipers functional with a toggle switch for now. The truck should pass our state safety inspection today and Korbin should be able to take it to cruise night minus the interior. Still need to do the rear shock mounts, but that might have to wait till this weekend.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
It is Victory Red. We used a light gray sealer to help make it pop.
Thanks, I might add the light gray sealer to my paint.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Tommy - Thanks for your support on the wheels and your comments above. We both would like to come, but it may not be in the budget this year. We have quite abit going on this month and that weekend would be are only one off before school starts again. Thanks for the offer on the parking spot.
We ran into a problem last night. Korbin noticed a few lug nuts loose (typical for aluminum wheels) after only a few miles. We double checked all of them and 4 of the studs on one front hub spin like the knurling is stripped off. We will pull both front hubs off this evening and get it fixed over the weekend. Seems to have the new finished project blues...

Aggie91, did you sand the sealer or seal directly to paint? Thanks

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Thanks everyone for the comments. I am surprised Korbin has not been on here to post what we learned over the weekend. Heatwave posted up the judging results from the show and his truck got 3rd in his class! We just wonder how it would have done if the interior was completed.
I'm not sure what the actual measurements are, but here is what we did: Front has the crossmember raised 1.5" in the frame, 2.5" drop spindles and currently on bags, but will end up with 3/4T coils with at least one coil cut. The rear is a flip kit with the front hanger raised about 1" and the rear hanger is flipped so the shackel swings down instead of up like a stock truck. Guessing it is a 5/7 or 6/8 drop. Quote:
Thanks, now we just need to finish the interior. I worked on the power windows last night, got all the wiring hooked up to test before making the final connections, everything works correctly except the passenger window does not go down. With just a battery hooked across the leads from the motor, it works both up and down. Must be something in the harness that is not making connection. I will work on it more today after work.

Re: 2 for 1, My son's first Square Build
Got the power windows working last night for both doors. It was just a connection in one of the plugs not making. Next it is onto the the hood again then the tailgate and rear bumper...
