Done! I finished the driver side fender and hood this morning. What a transformation!
Time to paint that bedside soon! |

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
Inspired by this pic I stumbled across, I have decided to go back to steel wheels with hubcaps. I have one stainless hubcap with a yellow bowtie that's been on my porch for years, and I just bought 3 more off a guy on Facebook. I'll just have to paint the bowties blue. Best part is a good friend of mine has a set of 16" steel wheels from an old Ford that he is going to give me for a case of beer!

Can’t go wrong with that look. Here’s my truck. I still haven’t painted the bow ties blue on my caps.

Well I have one blue bowtie hubcap. I just couldn't wait for the others to get here.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
So the three caps I bought through Facebook showed up today. They are different than the one I that I just painted which turns out to be a real 72 chrome cap. Either I'll have to find 3 more chrome ones or 1 more stainless cap to make them all match. Good enough for now. Gonna paint the bowtie on these blue at least.

I love using my truck for cool stuff. This last weekend we started building a disc golf course on private property.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
Got a couple more things done today. The passenger door is finally put back together after the vent window rebuild and new window channel/sweeps. I found a good replacement for the deteriorated foam under the door panel at the hardware store - 3/8" silicone rubber window seal.
Also finished painting the on the hubcaps today. I hope my buddy brings the wheels down from Tahoe soon so I can get them powdercoated and onto the truck! |

Is it just an optical illusion, or are 3 of the centers convex, and one not?

I found another '73 cap today, but it needs the black painted and I'm not sure of the best way to mask that and have it look nice. |

My truck is at the paint shop! Getting just the bedside painted to match in single stage. I can't wait!

I made this custom sign while the truck is at the paint shop. Should look pretty cool in front of the truck at car shows.

Wet paint! It looks amazing, but I hope the color dries a little more brown because it's very yellow.

Re: jimbosprint 1972 C20 - the good, the bad, and the ugly
So the painter messaged me today that he isn't happy with the color and he wants to respray. I agree it's a little too green and yellow, and needs a tiny bit more red in it. It looks amazing otherwise. Sucks to be delayed, but I'm happy to be working with a painter that cares about doing it right.
