if you do go to pull-a-part and get the setup take someone else with you and have them get the other half a few people back otherwise they tend to charge more because they do their homework and know what they go for. What ive heard from people who have gone after the setups there anyways. |

Re: John's Project
John,
If your going the oem serp route, I have a gently used alum. Edelbrock serp.rotation style water pump. I originally used it w/my '98 model 4.3 brackets on a 5.7... Thats confusing. It has about 5 miles on it and worked well w/those brackets. I would donate it to the project if you like. I went w/a March conversion serp. system that uses a standard rotation pump. Its yours if you can use it. Jus tell me where to send it. |

Re: John's Project
They were five lug. The truck is just a 2wd, but it was all jacked up when I got it. I sold the wheels and tires. The sale funded the lower altitude that you see on it now.
Well no real updates. I have a long list of things I have to order from the parts place, and Summit. Needless to say I'm waiting for Santa to help me out before placing the order. Board member Inverter sent me this sweet water pump to help with the late model serpentine swap. Thanks man!!!!! Since this will prob be my last post here before Christmas. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas. Last edited by JohnC; 12-24-2009 at 09:19 AM. |

Re: John's Project
Well here is my typical update without pics. Progress has been slow due to the holidays. As some of you local guys know my oldest daughter moved to Portland back in July. Well we flew her home for Christmas, and of course the biggest snow storm our state has seen in like 20 years hits on Christmas Eve. So she got stuck in Denver for 2 days, and finally just flew back home. Well she is going to try and make another trip this Wednesday. So I have been holding off ordering some of the parts that I needed to make sure that everything was taken care of on her trip. So......
Just placed my order for my aluminum radiator, and a few other goodies from Summit. Also got a new gas tank, and sending unit. I need to get the tank and brackets painted. Seems like deja vu, . I have a different idea for the paint on this one though. When I get it done, I WILL take pics of it. Went out to my uncle's today and did a little bit of work. Too dang cold to go looking for the serpentine setup today, so that will have to wait for another warmer day. We got the distributor in, speedo cable hooked up, windshield wiper motor back on, and my uncle is going to wire up the new wiper switch. I'm moving it to the dash under the headlight switch. I like the look of a clean steering column. Also got the floor dimmer switch wired up. Also got the driveshaft in, and just need to get new u-joints for it. Also got a list of a few other things that we still need to get to finish this thing up, and get it on the road again. Some things we are finding we need after we put something else in, and also finding out some things didn't work how we expected to. I noticed in Scotts62's thread that he rebuilt his rear end "hint hint" Guess I need to give him a shout after I get the truck running, and see if he can help me out getting a set of 3.73's put in. So that's all I have for now. I hope you guys don't get too irritated, or try and tie me up and drag me through the town with no pics. |

Re: John's Project
Glad to hear that someone is making progress. When your daughter was stranded out here, you probably could have gotten one of the CO members to help out and get her out of the airport.

Man I really appreciate that. That really means a lot to me. She really didn't want to leave the airport because they kept saying the first day that they could leave at any time. Then over night they said they couldn't guarantee a seat if they left the airport, and couldn't make it back. Then the next day was just waiting for the flight to go back home. Again to you guys man. If there is ever anything I can do for you guys let me know. |
