Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
I am reupholstering my seat for my 60 C10. Does anyone have the dimensions for the pattern shown here? Need width of center triangular shaped section on seat back at top and bottom, width of vinyl at top of seat back and front of bottom seat, etc.

Care to elaborate on the differences between NOS and repop hubcaps. Maybe I've never looked at them closely enough side-by-side but what are the differences?

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
while were on the subject, who offers the the best or closest to OEM product ?, I recently ordered a seat spring repair kit from LMC looked nothing like the original, again with classic Industries a part that was supposed to be Exact fit but nowhere close, i realize they are re-pop for a reason but would be nice if they tried a little to get it right, I feel like the 60-66 crowd is not being represented as well, Oh well, just a morning rant

Trust me, after spending hours researching which bolt goes where, the horrible bowtie will be emblazened in your brain.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
What documentation did you use to determine what heater hose clamps are used? It seems that most, if not all, of the pics of "original" trucks I've seen have the spring clamps on the heater core but I've also seen spring and tower styles on the engine end of the hoses. Never have found a definitive answer yet.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
Surprising also is that GM never kept an archive on the vehicles they built. I had a 63 Dodge 440 model and got the build sheet from the Dodge archives easily. Ferd probably doesn't either so I guess when you build and sell as many car as they do . . .

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
The numbers are out there for Chevrolet Rocknrod , Mid sixties Cars have just about all been found broken down even by color. Trucks figures from 1964-1966 have been found also , still hunting 1960-1963. The GM archives does have it but you have to be somebody to dig in those archives. I know one such person ! He has enough to write another book but the truck market was not ready for it when we last talked.

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
damnyankee , theres plenty of documentation in the form of original trucks to get you to the point of , no judge could find you wrong. Not knowing what Year truck your referring to OR what assembly plant makes it difficult to help you . You have to take into account the fact that Heaters were also a dealer installed option , ALL of these factors are KEY to understanding those details. Research on your end is whats key , knowing your truck and how it was ordered and outfitted by the dealer is important to understanding what and why went where. The assembly manual , accessory installation manual , heater accessory installation instructions ALL show these details but again , what year are you working on ???

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
It's a 66 Custom, V8, factory air. It was originally sold In Paducah TX but I don't know where it was built. I haven't looked at the VIN.
It would be interesting to see if trucks that have that same configuration would have the same hose clamp styles. You could even go as far to say that just the fact that it has AC might make it different from other trucks. Or, whatever clamps they had on the line at the time might be a possibility. I know what you're saying... I restore 1st generation Camaros and the researching them can get crazy! It's definitely a lot easier to research them compared to the trucks. There's so much more Camaro info available. |

Re: The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread
Here is a couple of pics of it., Can't have a picture of AC stuff without the ashtray. Also Factory AC should have 5 bladed fan, heavy duty radiator, shroud etc.
