To all you guys... You're welcome.. I'm no pro--and these pictures are similar to others I saw on this site which led me to know that I could handle this repair. It's not much fun-but it's very satisfying knowing that the rust is gone. Taking the time and paying attention to details is what makes the repairs and the restoration worthwhile. (sorry to you guys who have a hard time viewing all the photos if you have limited bandwidth or slow internet speeds). Oh--and sorry to you guys who like to slap bondo on everything with some fiberglass mesh for these sort of repairs.. There IS a right way AND a wrong way.. :-)

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got the brake line installed, filled thediff, painted and installed the e-brake cables, put in the new tail light bezels, por15'd the drums, cleaned the backing plates. Tomorrow I will put all new brakes on, new u joints, hook up the new tail light wiring harness and drive it!

Almost forgot-I need to center the rear end with the new track bar.

Relocated the fuel pressure regulator down in front of the fuel pump, cleaning up the appearance of the intake manifold area.

I love that 56 Themed paint! Reminds me of a certain Bel Air that used to come into one of the shops I worked at.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Wow, can't believe I forgot this... took the truck for a short drive! First time since I've owned it. Three forward gears work, reverse works, brakes work, clutch is good. A nice starting point. And... working original radio!

What a great day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Washed the truck last night causing it to rain this morning! Made a minor warm engine idle adjustment from 500 rpm to about 650 rpm where it is supposed to be.

Started painting my truck after 1 1/2 of working my butt off.
Got the door jams done and a few other pieces. Today we are painting the inside of the cab and the top of the cab.

Yeha!

Nice looking surprise there, eh?

I just took Cecilia out and slowed her timing to 2.5 BTDC and she's running alot better, but the battery is crapping out. I'm running her off of a jump box for now.

I also put in a new radio antenna. Now my radio works!

Finally I was pretty worn down but I sprayed her down with paint remover again and power washed another layer of primer off of her. That's 3 hours of fun. Then I sat down with the kids, got bored and started hammering out dents in her fenders while I sat. Lazy bodywork FTW.
