If you have to check one in a vehicle you can use silly putty (great to use when buying a vehicle!). Press it on the numbers and read it in a mirror.
never thought of a thing... lol always tryed using my eyes

Yea thought i had a TBI 350 in my camaro one time... I knew they were swirl ports, because all tbi motors came with those wierd heads.. even though the engine was a 305, it screamed and seamed like a 350 chevy.. but i took a valve cover off turned out to be a H.O 305. took the engine apart, had a roller set up in it. Not only that the engine had mechanical fuel pump boss. wierdest engine ive seen. it had the SGI insignia right were the casting numbers should be

Yeah well not sure if you saw but I did find a better motor than what I could ask for so hopefully going to be picking it up this weekend if all goes well.

haha that was the baddest 305 ive ever seen especially what i put it through. definitely maxed it out at 6100 rpms without blowing it up. i never complained about that 305... the head gasket went out and well we kept the short block..

Well today is the day fellas. I get to go get my tbi 350, I just have to go do 1 errand before I go get the motor, but it's raining right now supposed to stop around 10am and then that's when I'll be headed out to go get it! So I'll post up a picture once it's been picked up and headed back home!

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

I wish I could report that I did, but I didn't my dad wanted me to get rid of the current 305 before we went and got it. So tonight/tomorrow will be working to pull the motor and prep for a pick up to be sold.

80 grit, 220, 1000 wet, and then used a polishing wheel with jewelers polish, white stick.

looks like you got the dual plane performer, and a nicely tuned carb. 260-290.. already have the headers, that should be 280 or more. install a new set of plugs, oil, and flame thrower HEI, and you could pull 290 some horse

I know right, I felt like a fat kid does when he sees cake when I saw it was a 350!

Yep, I actually recently did the plugs a while back so there still good and fresh, just got to really put some new wires, distributor, and I'll have a nice little torque monster hopefully I can get 300hp to the ground, I'm going to get some new heads eventually too so that'll greatly improve things too.

yeah I'm probably going to go with a brand call pro comp, or get a really good set with a good reputation.

Heck I'll probably run these heads there not 190cc there 185cc but you can always go get them port and polished

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ed...make/chevrolet

I'm not going to be racing as you know, so I just want solid power with a nasty cam.

its not that im thinking. im seriously thinking your wanting that old fashioned power where you put it to the floor and the thing goes wild with acceleration. thats what i want anyways.... Lol i know you aint wanting race or anything either. i will have to check those out. the E street aluminum heads are pretty good looking, havent checked the flow specs on those...

Yeah, I want to be able to have enough that if I want to play I can hammer it and know it'll go, but it'll be fun regardless I mean part of all of this is, finding the "sweet spot" I mean when I had my bed on my truck there was that one spot that if I hit it just right it would go now I can be cruising and tires spin......oh wait yeah that's cause I don't have a bed!
