Re: Pics of the long distance project...
Thanks. So I made a trip to the junk yard today after work. I found the brake release rod that I couldnot find anyplace else. I got a second ashtray, found a possible serpentine belt donor, found the wires for the dome light, and some speaker holders. So here is the plan:
1. get up early and head to the yeard with some tools this time. 2. get the serpentine belt donor 1. 3. get the dome light wire from donor 2. I found a 92 silverado, it has an oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler in the radiator. I think I am gonna get the radiator, too. I am pretty sure I can hook up the oil cooler to the power steering fluid vice the oil, i say that because I think you need a pump or something to get any cooling value for the oil. I think the power steering pump will push the fluid without an issue. The second ashtray is to get chromed maybe black chrome. The speaker holders look to me to be a factory option, I think they hold 4x10s. So I will get them and hopefully install them in the truck, since my 6x9s are taking up space and I can only hear one of them. Wish me luck!

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
I pulled off all the vbelt pieces. I was able to get the pieces I needed. Now I have to get it all installed.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
Okay... the belt is on and the truck made it to Walmart without issue except spitting power steering fluid everywhere (i knew it was leaking befor i left). Tomorrow i will take it to work and fix that hopefully in the parking lot during lunch. Pictures coming... I am still waiting for the correct alternator harness adaptor from ebay. After that... I think its complete.
CS130 Alternator gave a steady 13 volts on the guage with radio, lights, and fan on. It will dip when I play with the power windows. I think that will be fixed with the correct harness adaptor installed.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
A few weeks back I got a RideTech 4 bar setup installed in the rear and Porterbuilt control arms with RideTech shocks up front (with a lowered coil). Rides so much better. New gas tank installed. trying to figure out the fuel sender/gauge business, no way 10 gallons takes the needle to half a tank and last for a day and half. I think the sender is not deep enough in the tank or something. I dont know. I ordered a Vintage Air system today. looking to get started on pulling out the old system. I was going to get the shop to install it but when he quoted me the $5,000 labor price. I almost fell off the stool. I think I will get it done myself.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
Back on the board after a long time. Did a little time on Okinawa and made it back in one piece. Good to be back. Much has changed with the truck. I have it in a prison. Nevada Department of Corrections has a program called Silver State Industries. The do all kinds of stuff (drapes, gentle horses, build motorcycles, auto restorations, screen printing and so on). These pics are from a few months ago. I will post more in a minute. st1

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
A few pics... in primer test fitting the 20 inch JunkYard Dogs from Summit on the rear. Redline tires from DiamondBack. Its too high (I know, I will have to work on that when I get it back). A little chrome work. I wanted black chrome but the chrome shop could not fit my bumpers in the vats they use for black chrome, so I saved a few bucks on chroming. those are the original headlight bezels they smoothed and made new again. st1

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
last one for a while. undercoating the rear fenders. the guy who welded the vintage air panel in for me didn't do ANY cleanup on it. he just welded it in, this looks a thousand times better. this is the rendering of the truck I had done. it won't be exact cause a few things got changed but pretty close. st1

Re: Pics of the long distance project...
st1, got to read your whole story since I wasn't a member when you started on this truck. One of my best friends is a serving Marine. Thank you for the time you put in. I like that you have the truck and that it keeps getting new rounds of improvements. Groovin on the redline tires -- those don't get used much on builds I see. Some guys talk about their truck being in 'paint jail'. Yours is actually in prison. Was a nice truck before. Now it is looking very good. Paint looks to be coming out in a very high gloss this time.
