Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Cool, i hear they are pretty nice headers. Any idea on having to notch the frame for them?

Well, I called and talked to Mark at s&p, he said no modifications are needed.
We will see.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
headers fit, but the dreaded 'ear" of the 4l80 is going to need some surgery...
I did bring my camera, but batteries were dead..duh.

Based on the last mockup of headers, I totally expected that..

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
I think if I cut the "ear" off it will be fine.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Wow, I didn't even know this thread was going on! I hang out in the 67-72 side, but glad the motor is getting close. I really wish I could've used it/finished it, but glad to pass it on to another member. I still have that 5.3 so I will probably use it sooner or later. Can't wait to "see" it and hear all about the first drive!! Good Luck and keep at it!

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
We had to cut the ear off of a 4l80e for a long tube install. It makes for a ton of room.

Been wanting to do this 6.0 install for awhile. The funds may become available soon also. Is there any info you referenced while doing this build?

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Last I heard he told S&P about the header interference, sent them some pics and they should be getting him some new ones today.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
update:
Called S&P yesterday, my new headers should have been shipped today, so it looks like I'll have to wait until next week to get her running. What a hassle this header fiasco has been. Probably would have been better off buying a welder and a how to video and did it myself. Besides that, nothing new, More to come.

I would list all my links for threads on sites, but my bookmarks are a mile long and very unorganized, sorry. www.fullsizechevy.com (classics section) www.ls1tech.com (conversions and hybrids section) www.ls1truck.com (ls1 conversion section) and this site! Tons of info, just read and read and see what you think will work best for you, everyone's swap is different, but hopefully the end result is the same.

What was wrong with the S&P headers? I must have missed that?

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
the collector end was literally touching the block, could not get enough material off the ear to make it fit. They knew there was an issue w/ 4l80e, they needed to kick the collector toward the frame about an inch.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Man thats no good. Hopefully they will have them fixed up right for you this time. If everything goes smooth with my engine swap this weekend i would be happy to come over and help, whether its handing you wrenches or watching the kids.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
nice keep it up. I went with the RamJet350. I had the motor when building the frame so I did not run into that problem. I can wait to see the finished project. Nice work!

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
@%$#&*! When the hell is someone going to make a set of long tubes that will work with a 6.0L 4L80E??? I have an 84 K5 with a 6.0L 4L80E NP241c drivetrain and am running the MAC F-body headers with a major notch on the drivers side. Since my trucks a 4x4 I'm looking for a different route that doesn't sacrifice frame strength for exhaust. Keep us posted.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
Finally got the new headers in today. driver's side fits great.
Sorry no pics, forgot camera, hauling butt to see if it fit, long day at work, tired and ready to hit the rack. Not sure if I will have time this week to do anything else But I will bring my camera when I go back to the shop, whenever that is.

Re: Finally!!! 6.0 POWAH!!!!
I went with the carshopinc plates. Pretty much the standard sbc to ls swap plate, nice price and fit with no problems.
Not sure about the 4l70...if you do get s&p, make sure you tell them what tranny you are running, actually, tell them twice so you don't go through a couple months of down time like me because of it. The headers were worth the wait, I'm happy with them.
