Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs
I started a build thread, with some pics and my plans, My boss has an Old merc project being done by a builder in my area and I was telling him I was looking for a 64 project truck and he said his builder had one so he called him and said he had a crew cab so I had to see it I stopped by on my way home and ended up buying it from the guy for 800 and we agreed I would do most of the metal work I'm a pipefitter/welder by trade so I wanted to do what I could on the project

Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs
looking at both of them, one must notice how the paint has fallen off of both extensions that were added. there must have been a different system of paint between the factory and the coach builders

Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs
[IMG][/IMG]nice score ron and congrads on yer 65th! from all the research i have done on my truck it was converted in Vancouver,BC by Continental truck bodies, most of these trucks were sent to logging camps and i believe E and N railroad had a couple also. There was a guy trying to sell one a few years back in Victoria.I emailed continental truck bodies but their records dont go back that far.Looking at mine, they have used alot of rivits to put it all together.

Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs
what is the ser# timbuk, they could have been sisters out of the same order. I have to go back and chk this ones ser # as I took a pic of it and a few of the nbrs are fuzzy. it is close to 4k1534189114
in regards to the paint. maybe they had the same painters that were in Okalla(sp? forget). they used to make the lic plates at okalla (provincal jail-up to 2 yrs) and the paint always use to peel off and we accredited that to them peeing in the paint that is the identical truck. was it green originally? ron full ser # 4K1534618911A Last edited by padresag; 02-05-2010 at 08:13 PM. |

Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs
Hey everyone,
I am a newbie here. Thanks for posting all the great pics of the Ext. Cabs and Crews. I been thinking about doing that to my 66 Chev for awhile now. Mainly want to do it so me and the family can cruise. Me personally, I am liking the idea of the "Non Knee banger" door with the Suicide rear door. later, Tazfink |
