Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Sadly the tires are too wide. When turning they rub hard against the front lower fender. Hopefully I can sell them for what I paid. Not ready to add a lift so the tires/rims got-a-go.
Think I need to paint the head-light bezels white... Last edited by 67gmcstepside; 12-04-2010 at 11:08 AM. |

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Picked up a set of Rally 15 x 8's with the same size tires 33x12 but they don't hit the lower front fender. I think I like this look better anyway.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
I'm thinking white bezels and a white fender too.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
I think the white bumper with fit in well. Right now the bezels are chrome but I will paint in the spring.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Thanks Ed, I hung wire from a 2x2 laid across the tent side rails. Trying to get Spring stuff done so I can start on the bed paint. Last edited by 67gmcstepside; 04-08-2011 at 10:12 AM. |

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
What I meant to post was Your Truck is Better Than NEW. As with most people restoring these trucks, it will be far nicer than it was from the factory. Ed.

Great job, awesome work. The long step 4x4s are definitely different but cool.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
I finally got back to the 67 and got some paint completed. Bed wood was ordered and just waiting for the shipment.
Ran out of clear so the steps, bumpers and tailgate will have to wait. |

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Thank you, progress is slow but other then repainting a botched tail get lettering job I can get rid of my painting booth/tent. I realize now that I should have replaced the leafs when it was just a frame so its go back and fix things I should have taken care of earlier :-(

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
I really like the color scheme, I may try something similar. Impressive how fast you turned this thing around. Well done.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Thanks, need to figure out what to do about getting 2 inch of lift. Buy new leafs from LMC (3 leaf instead of my old 2) go with shac flip, etc... need to get a few more things completed then I can focus on redoing the suspension.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Nothing like going backwards. I decided to replace the front leaves with a skyjacker 2.5 lift kit. While I was at it I added a new gear box. New leafs should arrive this weekend. |

Can't tell you how many times I've done that. Better to fix it now than later.

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Shoot, I've done it 3 times on my engine a lone. That lift should look sweet on here!

Re: 67 Frankenstien build
Well I got the skyjacker leafs laid in last night just need to install the u-bolts and tight everything up. Its looking a heck of a lot more then a 2.5 inch lift. The spring pack has 5 leafs in it. Still hard to tell but there is a lot of room between the center of the axle and the top of the fender. I'll get everything buttoned up by this weekend and I'll post pictures of before and after. The blocks the sent for the back are only 2 inch so I hope I dont have the front waay up and the rear real looow.
