Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
it actually doesn't look too bad! put some centers on those wheels and your set while you save for nice wheels!

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
It's usually not hard........
I converted mine the other way around DRW to SRW and all it takes is to swap out your front discs, and rear differential. And if you want to run the semi wheels you should look for a rear cab and chassis differential which is only 63" WMS

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
Blue Monster, I just measured the rear 12 bolt on my 73 and its 64" from outside of drum to outside of drum. How is it your 14 bolt is 61.5"?? I thought for sure a 14 bolt rear is wider.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
I'm pretty sure your diffs should measure around 67.5" WMS no? My cab and chassis 14 ff is 63" WMS and it is the narrow one of the family of 14's.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
i didnt get an acurate measurement then. i measured from the outside of my drum to the inside, multiplied that by 2 for both sides. them i measured from backing plate to backing plate.so in the end it should've been correct. i'll have to remeasure....

Update, hopefully will have doors and fenders in primer by this weekend. im almost done with the fiberglass work! ok, so i'm thinking of getting exhaust, i know i already mentioned this, but i dont know where to route it? theirs not enough space to go to the back, and i hate it coming out in front of the rear wheels and it sounds like crap when its pointed twords the ground.?!?!?!?! what do i do? another question, what do you guys think of moto metal 961 chrome. without the red peices.

this set up sounds just as good as out the back, but i know you dont want it to come out in front of the wheel, what about grafting the exhaust into the bedside infront of the wheelweel, that would be sweet!

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
If you remove the bump stops and the front drops then you can put new springs in to lift it back up to where it was when it was resting on the stops.
I bought an extra set at the junk yard for when I drop mine just in case. |

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
It's kinda hard to explain in text. Your springs are too short and might be even shorter. Cut out the bump stops and pull taller springs to match the current height.

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
Ohh I see What your saying. I'll have to cut my bump stops and see how much it drops

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
Exactly! If you want more clearance you could section your crossmember an inch and put in taller springs. You can also run taller tires.
Was the 9 inch drop in the rear all due to the axle flip? I got all my brackes but havent dont it yet and want to know what I am going to get into. I was thinking it would be closer to 7inchs |

Re: project: 3/4 ton dropped
the drop was about 8in from the flip, and another 1in from the shorter tires. i just put 9in because that was how much it was from stock tires/suspension to shorter tires and suspention.
