is that a stock location for the rear speaker?
i was gona remove my ashtrays...closer to my ears...
the rear speakers were there when i got it. not sure if they were stock in that location but i know the speakers have been replaced. if i replace them in the next couple weeks, i will be able to tell if the mounting is original or an afterthought. ill let you know, since i plan on rewiring everything and changing all the speakers soon

took the carpet out and cleaned it with dawn and a high pressure hose nozzle.
temporary carpet but it cleaned up decent. still have to get some new carpet. looks like the previous owner used house carpet. since it matched the rear carpet i decided to keep it until i can get a full carpet kit for it.

took the old brackets off the old and bolted them on the new. only had to drill one hole to locate another threaded bolt hole

Re: 78 squarebody 2wd made2drag

cut the front brackets off an inch so the rear brackets would clip in, then took the old front hindged brackets off and located the floor holes and the old brackets were next to the new brackets...so all i had to do is mark and weld

Re: 78 squarebody 2wd made2drag

78 was the first year the back seat folded down and lifted forward....i could have modified the front brackets to hinge but i decided folding down is good enough. i have my truck for moving stuff and i mainly bought the blazer because it has a back seat for my kids, so i really dont need it to lift forward. really wanted to upgrade to tan leather. not bad for 40 bucks at pull-a-part!

next..... the front seats

Re: 78 squarebody 2wd made2drag

it functions great...the 2 front bolts bolted right up! i can mount my amp under the seat and the kids can still get in the back seat. the seat also slides forward. this seat is from a second row suburban seat. i have a front power seat from the same suburban, but it's ripped a little, so i'll probably put a gray leather front seat that ive had for another truck. same exact seat but gray. it blends together but is still noticable.... it's probably better than the tan ripped one

Re: 78 squarebody 2wd made2drag

when i get a tan seat to replace the gray driver seat, i think i will get another tan second row suburban seat to match. as you can see the seat designs and "shoulders" are different and they are a little taller. (the driver bottom piece looks redone, so not as puffy)......... i see these seats all the time at pull-a-part in perfect shape because they aren't as abused or used as much as the front seats. should be easy, i'll grab one in a few weeks most likely....27 bucks....no doubt a great deal....these seats feel so amazing and such a difference from what i had...and the driver seat front bolts bolted right up. the rear bolt holes are like an inch farther back. the driver seat all the way back would be enough for a 6 foot guy and it slides way up too

What did you do with your old buckets. I am extremely interested in them. Nice build by the way. I followed your first build and am in the middle of doing my own AOL setup. Thanks for the inspiration.

Re: 78 squarebody 2wd made2drag

applied the "poor man's dynamat" tonight. 14 bucks for the roll covered both doors. i'd still like to get another roll and put a second layer on. it made a major difference on the "knock" test and i noticed the door was heavier when i closed the door. i could already hear the difference when i cranked the eng and even with the door panels off it was pretty quiet inside. still have to put a layer of plastic to cover the access holes (like you find when taking off a newer car panel). ive used this peel and seal before and it works great!

lowes in the roofing supply area. its 14 bucks a roll. it is a flashing repair product that is meant to seal leaks around vents and valleys on your roof. 6 inches wide and 25 feet long. 1 roll covered both doors but to really get the best results the inside of the door needs 2 layers. i used this stuff on my 67 c10 after i patched and por-15'd the floor and layed some of the down. it deadens and is kind of like a seam sealer too. it only needs to be warmed up for 20 secs. aim and lay it. once it touches the surface it sticks like glue.

id love the lay my blz out....it may happen but only if i get another daily to take my kids to school in...lol

Cool, thanks. I will try this stuff out when I get around to the interior.

Understandable, well lets hope you stumble upon a daily sometime in the near future!!
