undecided truck color

I was going to paint my step side bright yellow , after looking at some on this site changed my mind.
So I am now leaning towards a red , bright reds and metallic . also maybe a dark mattalic green.

can anyone who has colors like this post them for me.

Re: undecided truck color

Go to your local ford dealer---look at their "red candy". It about the closest Ive seen to a true candy--from a manufacturer. Im going with it, with the inside painted a metallic silver grey

If the word ford scares you, cadillac has a translucent red very siumilar.

Re: undecided truck color

Eventually mine is going to be red on white, but I am going to use this red..... My girlfriends uncle just bought a new dodge, and I love the red in the sun, but maybe you want something more factory.

I love that color , I am not restoring my truck to original so factory colors are not an issue.
Could you possibly get me the color name and paint code ?

Thanks

Gary

Re: undecided truck color

FYI red is the most expensive paint due to all the toners needed to make "red". usually around $160.00 dollars per quart.

After putting 1000's of dollars into the restoration , paint costs should not be a real issue.. Why have all this and then not have the color you really want ?

Re: undecided truck color

The color is deep cherry red crystal and the chrysler paint code is RP so youll just have to cross reference that, any body shop should know by the name as well, just tell them it is a dodge color.

Re: undecided truck color

I have run into some of the reds with candies and the pearls and the other"exotic" types run closer to 300-350 pint that could translate into well over a grand for paint or maybe that plus half again. That is without any of the mixing stuff to go with it the harnder[for clear] reducer clear and what nots. Also if you are painting this truck yourself morepower to you. But on a person without a lot of "guntime" I would suggest that the high metalics and micas and pearls and such be avoided like the plauge. They are more difficult to spray than a normal base clear and you just don't need that pressure on top of every thing else with the price of materials and the possibility of mistakes. Also if you are budget minded you might ask for a Omni alternative to the top self paint. PPG has a body shop based line =Omni it will save you 1/3 to 3/4 on paint on the availible colors. They have a whole Omni line but I suggest that you use the DBC clear as it has more UV protectants than the Omni thus making it last longer and also shine longer. Jim

Yea , I hear ya. I will not be painting any metalics trust me . I want good paint but not at 350 a pint. I was leaning for the middle of the road stuff , omni is one and 5th demention in another.

Another vote for hugger orange! If you do a search on this site there are plenty of picture threads of different color trucks
