Re: quest for silence
your best bet is to buy it south of the border. sound deadner you can get anywhere up here, but it's usually more expensive, & i could only find 1 place, in Burnaby that sold MLV, & wanted $600 (!) for 100 sq ft.
i don't know too many shops on the coast, but we have Hot Rods & Classics here in chilliwack. there mainly muscle cars (60's, 70's), but Rick (owner) will pull out a catalog from pretty much anyone, anywhere & get you what you need at a decent price. |

Re: quest for silence
How did you attach the MLV to the inside of the doors? You have had it all done for about a year and a half now. Anything you would do differently?

Re: quest for silence
good question!
that was a stumbling block for me too. researching i found people gluing it, sticky velcro-ing it (seems to be very popular), mechanically fastening it, etc i POR 15'ed the inside of the doors for a good, smooth bite, (and rust protection)then used some SUPER STICKY!!!, & i mean sticky, 3M double sided tape, then used Tuck Tape around the joints & edges, & my mirror brace bars mechanically hold it up. wont kid you, it was a time consuming, finger squishing, smack myself a few times in the head getting it all in where it needed to be... have not had a single problem with the front doors, however, the dr rear door, (i think because of my son & his friends.....) one corner came loose & jammed the window crank. expounding on the mirror brace idea, i cut big, real big, 18 gauge sheet metal washers & stuck them behind the door handle bolts & have'nt had a problem with them since other than that no complaints so far, well worth the 500 & change to me..... |
