Re: Fast N Loud did a '65
If any one of us regular guys would have built that and posted our build pics most everyone here would be saying how cool it is. Sure, there would be a few who did not like the style like with anyone's ride but if it was a normal guy's build it would be getting many more cheers. The fact that some here don't like Gas Monkey......well that is also helping form opinions.
I would drive the heck out of it. As for the wheels......I have been looking for days and days now to find wheels that I think I like on my truck and that has proven to be one of the hardest decisions for me personally. |

But it wasn't build on a regular guy's budget nor will it be sold for a regular guy's price. And too many folks treat poor-Richard like a car-god, which just adds to his empire. (cars, clothing, restaurants, Dodge commercials, etc...) Plus when non-car guys watch this show they start to believe that building a road safe vehicle is as simple as a couple 30-minute shows and there goes another restorable truck to be torn apart and then rot in a newbie's backyard. Gas Monkey may make for okay entertainment but so do the guys on Top Gear, but I am not sure I would pay Jeremy Clarkson build me a truck either.

Well said but....... Newbie or not.....if one thinks building a truck/car is a few 30 min sessions then they have no business building one anyways. I enjoy the show for what it is.....entertainment. There are parts of the show I could do with out. I happen to like the truck for what it is also. |

I love the show with the VOLUME OFF. Arron has been around the chopper world for a long time and is a respected mechanic, builder, shop guy.

Re: Fast N Loud did a '65
I love the show. It's one of my favorites. I know it has it's flaws but what show doesn't.
The extra trim and double badging is pretty sad but if they had removed it there would have been a lot of bodywork and that would have destroyed the patina. I just finished watching part 2. Did anybody else think that there was too much side to side rear-end movement when Richard was doing his donuts in the parking lot?

Re: Fast N Loud did a '65
When I first turned it on I thought heck yeah, someone's finally doing a 64-66 build! Then I realized it was for the Pikes Peak run and thought oh god, they are going to ruin this truck that I wish I could have got! I was actually surprised though, I thought they did a good job.. minus those stupid wheels and that lower trim piece not being removed. Not bad gas monkey.. now build a street driver.

Yea not sure what's up with that rear end movement. Cool truck though. Yea, there's a few things I would change, but I sure would drive the crap out of it as it is!

I wonder what's going on with Bazooka's old orange '63 in the background at Gas Monkey.

One of the better gas monkey builds for sure with lots of fab work.
Its neat to see boxes with wheels do things theyre not supposed to. |

Cool truck. Richard does seem like dork on the show and probably is cool in real life. For those that don't know (and I just learned recently myself) he is an accomplished road racer which has upped my respect for the guy.

Finally caught the payoff episode on Saturday morning. The truck looks awesome going up the hill. Kaufman did good in the Falcon too. Cool stuff...
