Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
I'm still interested in the door window horizontal fuz or sweeps from these original trucks. Did you ever get a chance to take any pics of them?

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Wow - I am surprised!
Thank you 60-66 - You are one good photographer. Say what if I sent you a set of the new sweeps I have and you could tell us weather they are the same or different than OEM? I forgot the manufacturer, green label everyone uses them . . . uhhh . . . I just cant figure out why people are having issues with the remakes. Oh I know, I will take pics and post them. What a concept.

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Very cool Vintage truck. I am have a 64 C/10 myself. I was hoping you could post a pic of the gauges mounted on the dash. I have a tach in my original cluster, so just curious what kind of tach they used on that truck.
Did you get any Clippinger Chevrolet license frames or any other memorabilia for it? I just purchased a 69 camaro that was originally sold at Clippinger Chevrolet, and i am trying to find some dealer license frames for it. thanks BULLITT65@aol.com |

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Do I read this right that you've found TWO of these? Or at least two trucks with Alaskan campers? Whatever, this truck is a gem and no mistake! Lucky you!
By the by, have you tried raising the upper level before attempting the door? It might be stuck from the top being lowered. |

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Interesting story on Alaskan Campers. Not vintage, but it does give a few paragraphs into the company's founding and history.

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Licensing was 60 bucks in 1964, Godam. And 2 grand on a camper!?!?!? Both very surprising.

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Unfortunately Clippinger went our of business a few years ago, so it is now a dead end.
I am always looking for items from this dealer, so if anybody runs across anything from Clippinger chevrolet out of Covina, or Dana Chevrolet out of Southgate, let me know thanks BULLITT65@aol.com |

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
I haven't done a thing with it except start to clean out the interior of the truck. Need to remove and replace the gas tank, then brakes. Bought pair of NOS rear fenders to replace the cut rears. Still need a pair of steps for this 9 foot bed as they were cut also. Pretty unusual truck with the 327 , Ive only ever seen one other that Les has here on the site.

That is very cool and I’m excited to see the outcomes. It’s sometimes amazing to me that if this vehicles could talk what stories they could tell. Enjoy the journey!

I may modernize a few things...it's 2019 after all, but the reliability and dependability of these old trucks hasn't changed. Well, a little bit in 55 years, but I could handle it.

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
Great find, and kudos to you for seeking it out. After being a Corvette junkie for years, you know the type, numbers matching yadda yadda yadda, it tickles me our members are asking numbers etc. to figure it out. Don't get me wrong, I think that's cool. While some of our members resto mod etc., which I is also think is okay, keep it as you found it and drive it and enjoy it like I do with my '64 panel. P.S. If you park in the same campground as me, you can sleep in my toyhauler and I'll sleep in your camper.

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
I'll trade my "so called desirable" shortbed 1/2 ton for '60-'66's "so called undesirable" extra longbed 1 ton ANYDAY! Southern Calf was a hot bed of camper activity in the booming 60's RV market, dealers would do what it took to make things happen, even if not listed in the sales brochures. It appears the 327 was very doable for heavier vehicles thru COPO.

Re: 1964 C30 , Another Alaskan Camper !
In 1960, I vaguely remember my Father trading in his Airstream on a new Chevy Apache. I believe it was a C-10. He also bought a cab-over camper. Somewhere around Tulsa, my sister invented the pass-thru. Dad invented the boot with duct tape from a hardware store. Everywhere we stopped on that trip there was a crowd of people eyeing the camper. Most had never seen one before. We sure loved the overhead. What a VIEW from up there!
