Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
I emailed SMS on the weekend so see if my seat covers were enroute. Here is the response I received this morning.
We are still waiting on the new roll of material to come in from the mill, unfortunately we didn’t have enough in stock to do all the covers we had orders for. I guess I will continue to wait.....

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
Regarding the wrong pattern:
SMS shows a excellent service. They advised a change for free, Unfortunatly I have build in already and have not anymore the old one, Therefore they offer to send the material and I can organize a local service. Great!

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
My covers arrived from SMS. I was only expecting one package, but BOTH showed up
I ordered Fawn for my '68 Utility, and had sent back a 50th set due to incorrect pattern and both look amazing. The net, I'm very pleased with SMS, no only in the quality of the upholstery, but their customer service as well. I had my 50th covers for close to a year before I realized the pattern was incorrect and they did not hesitate at all to take them back. Very happy I know some have asked for photos of the Fawn covers, I'll get some today and post shortly. Photos of Fawn covers: Thanks, Kevin

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
Is anyone else still waiting for 50th covers from SMS?
Ordered and PAID May 6 June 16 “Will be a few months.” July 20 “We are still waiting on the new roll of material” Sep 18 “Almost ready, will be an October delivery” Nov 6 “The cloth is still being made” Dec 17 “ suppose to be here right after the holiday’s” Feb 2 “The material will be here in the next couple of weeks” I am getting frustrated.......

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
I’m not surprised. I called several times and left 3 messages back when they were running their special. A month later after the discount expired they called me back asking if I wanted to order. I declined. Glad I did after seeing your post. I think they put out a good product but are probably struggling getting help to run the operation or maybe they are just that busy. Hope you get it soon.

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
Man that’s ridiculous. I hope you eventually get it. Sooner than later. Might be quicker to just ask for the fabric and have a local upholstery company make them for you. Good luck.

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
This month's reply from SMS on my inquiry to when I may get the cover I ordered in May 2020.
"I talked to production and you’re covers will be shipping in the next two weeks."

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
I think I will wait until winter now when the truck is parked to recover the seat.

Truck is parked for the winter. Time to install the seat cover.
Bottom went well. But it was missing some of the clips. I needed to rob the clips from the top held to make it work. Now I am trying to track down more clips. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 1968 Golden Anniversary Seat Covers
Thanks
Top was a pretty tight fight. I ended up earning the whole seat up in the furnace toom(warmest room in the house) then with the assistance of my wife we pulled it on. I happy with how it looks. I didn’t find more clips but the SMS cover has canvas sewn on for hog rings. So I used more hog rings to supplement the missing clips. I also installed the 2” lower FCF brackets. I sit lower! I am 6’3” so ever inch helps. I will look into sliding the column forward now to give some steering wheel to belly room. I hadn’t before because I had read that it just pushes the wheel down into your legs. Posted via Mobile Device |
