Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
My Fun Cars and Trucks are for my entertainment , not Investments , even though I have a fortune in them all . I enjoy most of them to the fullest and keep them insured for more than I feel they are worth . My Malibu Vert I really dont enjoy anymore as it was my Late Wifes car but I hope to one day get past that . The value of them I dont really worry about , I share them with close friends that enjoy a drive in a classic .

Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
Unfortunately, it does happen so I will attempt to put in at least a few obstacles.
I've already been bitten once ('62 Corvette stolen from B&B in Pacific Grove, CA), and it definitely causes a feeling I don't wish to cross paths with again. Frigging thieves! Pat |

Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
Never done it but if I had to install a physical kill switch, thought about purchasing a new model seat belt and use the normally open switch contact in the buckle in series with the circuit I wish to disable. Most thieves will not be initially concerned with buckling up when they are trying to get it started.

Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
I guess I'm just relying on the handbrake along with the clutch..

Basically I just disconnect the drive-line, insert bolts through rotors as another mentioned, though the heads and that are unique. Two kill switches, but I remove the battery anyhow. A home monitoring system. I like the holster on the dash board. And something I'm not prepared to admit to with a safe word, two warnings first

I have a EStopp electric emergency brake. I can lock rear brakes with a hidden button. I will also be using a Sniper fuel injection that can kill fuel and ignition with a hidden toggle.

Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
I find that having a 92 model bed on mine keeps anyone from wanting it, much less wanting it enough to steal it.
I heard a story about a truck being taken right out of a guy's garage in the middle of the night. I think this happened in San Antonio. They got the garage door open without a sound and pushed the pickup down the driveway and into the street. They left it when they realized it did not have an engine. Keys in the ignition, in the RUN position. |

I don't post on an open website where it is what it is and what I've done to stop thieves from stealing it , Makes sense no ?

Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
We already know you throw a party with popcorn, balloons and laughing gas old man. Only thing I haven't figured out is how it's triggered yet.

How's that party triggered ? Well... if your a 5'2" redhead petite FEMALE with a finished 67 short bed that I don't have to work on maybe you'd see me throw a party. They seem to be my "kryptonite" But, Really, an ignition cutoff / GPS and "real" insurance should be enough for anyone , There are thieves everywhere .If they really want it their going to get it and it will be when you least expect it .Here in the Knoxville area a few years back they were stealing truck and trailers from hotel parking lots , One was full of custom Harley's and another had a 32 ford project the guy just bought and was on his way home with NO insurance . Now that would have been a bad day .

Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
Since someone else mentioned women...
I got a speeding ticket back in the early 90s near Waco TX - and missed my court date. several months later, i was raking leaves and the cops pull up in the driveway. "Do you know why I'm here, Mr ----?" OOOPS Then he offers me the option of setting another court date which would include a no show fine OR (and this is the best part) I could let them take me in and book me and spend the night in jail, after which the judge would drop all fines for time served and give me community service. I was unemployed at the time, so I tossed my truck keys and my wallet to my girl and said "Pick me up in the morning at the courthouse. Take some money and get something to eat and put some gas in the truck." Next morning they opened the holding cell and said "You are free to go" But I had not seen the judge yet. Then he says "You were the only case on the docket so the judge took the day off and you have a new court date". "And some girl dropped off your keys. Your truck is parked outside in the public parking area." And there it was. Waiting for me. I was free. But my truck was on empty, my tools were gone, glove box empty, no spare tire, and no jack. Never saw the girl again. Later someone said they had seen my truck parked in the driveway of a crackhouse. Sure do miss that toolbox. Last edited by lousyflyer; 07-23-2020 at 10:02 AM. Re: How do you protect your investment from theft ?
I take the too ugly & stands-out approach, how many three tone Supers are you aware of
Faulty components are nice deterrents as well. You wouldn't want to swipe this at night, because the headlights are no brighter than the park lights, which is exactly how I like it. Karma will see it rains during any theft, and there's a 50/50 chance the wipers will work, I don't like their odds That and they'll need to stop for gas soon, because only I know how the gauge "works". The speedometer is 7 MPH under-represented, so there's probable cause too.
