Well.

Bank holiday weekend is pretty much over.

Still need to get the trailer and fetching sorted for the Rezin Rockit.

Thought I would wait till after the weekend.

Getting here.....

Bill has been looking out for bits already, he seems to have a knack for finding bits.

Running about and searching between his home and the stash spot. Some distance away.

The one rear light lense has been missing.

At this point we have no idea where it actually could be from.

Last night mate Scott @jabbo popped around and dropped off a nice tool to help further tidy up my garage,

He had contacted me last week to say that it had become surplus to his needs, was I interested in it for free.

Of course I was, mainly because I actually do need it.

Now I can split my tools into Metric, in the SnapOn trolley bought last year and the weird stuff in this one.

Perfect.



In other news, Bill in Scotland, through one of his searches, may have found someone who has a Mk2 Capri rear light lens to sell me for the Rezin Rockit as one is missing.

Unfortunately they are not universal, having a wedge shape, and the reverse at the bottom.

Only had lunch (coffee) at 2.00pm and that was not the end of it

But eventually at just after 4.15 I managed to get out the house and go for a walk up to the farm.

Mate Fil in Cambridge sent this text.

Nikki is up for a road trip to Glasgow. Serious offer. We can overnight for free at my mates place in Cumbria. We’re already making plans.. Available from Monday next week....

Bank holiday weekend over, today kicked off as expected with my boss returning after two weeks off on sick leave, with a BIG BANG

However, life does go on, and one needs to try stay ahead.

So I started to look at options for a trailer to get the Rezin Rockit down here from Scotland

Alongside paying a commercial fee through Shipley.com I would be happier to do a road trip and make it more personal, like hiring a Beavertail or something similar.

Or going for a ride with mate Fil.

Chatting to Bill at about lunch time on Messenger video, he was in a scrap yard, looking for some parts for a Mercedes Benz, and also for some spare wheel nuts as most on the Rezin Rockit are missing.

While chatting I mentioned I was hoping to find a pair of high backed seats, possibly from a crashed 1.2 Corsa with a wing on the rear, parked upside down in a ditch by an over eager young driver.

Sent a pic while we were chatting......

Next thing ha shows me a blue car with black seats.........

How about these??

Turns out its a Mazda RX8 with black interior, I ;loved them, and asked what they would cost.....?

No idea, he replied, but we can ask.

Then he turns and there is a RED CAR with black and red interior.................

Shows me this.....





And inside



Crawling around inside, looking for damage and reasons not to take them.





So we decide. that Bill will go to the yard owner and see if the front seats are for sale.


Knowing this is the state of affairs, if Red and Black is available, mostly they try sell them as a full set.




Bill went in with me in tow on video in his hand..... weird yes. Love technology

So he asked how much for the front seats and the reply was that they preferred selling the full set.

But with a smile he asked again, and was told £100.00 or $135.00 for the two.

Seemed he was enjoying this, so Bill asked if that was really their best price, to which the reply was that as a firefighter they would let him have them for £70.00


Winner !!


30 minutes later.





And less than an hour later, he had them home, and given a quick wipe down.





I am pretty chuffed that this suddenly happened today.


Moving along nicely, and we have not collected it.

So yesterday I go for a walk up to the farm after 4.00pm as I needed a bit of head space, and also to chat to mate Fil about various things.

A;so spoke to Ian the one farmer about something I am trying to get sorted.

Then a bit further on the way home, still in the mini-village and about 600meters from home I chatted with another “neighbour” who always has a car or bike build on the go, currently restoring a CJ7 for his wife.

Told him about the Eagle not soaring, and he immediately offered me his trailer to use.


I would prefer to have found a trailer up North that needs repatriation down South so that Fil only tows it one way.


This should do just fine if I fail to find something to use up in Scotland




Break neck with rear ramp.

Should do well.





Back to work now.



PS. Also found a knob.

Not sure about it yet.

So the wheels.....


Seems I have offered on these.


Waiting to hear from the seller if he will throw in some wheel nuts in, as the Rezin Rockit only has 2 nuts per wheel currently.


They are about 80 miles from me, but why make it easy when building something weird.


Description says they are used. But they do look nice in the pics.

LOST OUT, SOLD. GUESS I SHOULD NOT HAVE SAID ANYTHING.

I do not know the paint colour or codes people use normally.

But I do want these in a golden bronze colour

Still moving along.

For those who remember Edd Weeks who did the conversion on my,1963 Ford Trnsit, he has come up with a colour - Ford Arizona Gold, which is pretty close to what I like.

If the car ends up very Red, then the contrast may not be the same as Silver or black, but I think it will be good.

He had it on his cars wheels too.

Galaxy worked again.

Used windows going up to a farm in Derbyshire with mate Fil for a shed build when he heads up to fetch the Rezin Rockit in Glasgow.

Complete doors with keys, frames etc, all for free

Works for me.

I robbed the letter box slots off two of them, for my own house door, and the door on the compressor room which looks pretty nasty







Plus a smallish section of polycarbonate roofing for a small application on the carport over the compressor room

Job done.

It’s a complete unit and it even looks like it’s the right side. Certainly it doesn’t fit anything I own so it’s available if you want it [img alt="" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png" class="smile"] Wheels are stashed in my storage facility ( container on a farm [img alt="(rofl)" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png" class="smile"]) they were bought for an Anglia project that didn’t happen so they’re unused but tatty having been in a shed since the 80’s. Think they’re 6 x 13 but I’ll check next time I’m up there

So last night, after a day of doing various jobs, I decided to add a bit of red to the compressor room door.


Mistake.


Using a very old, hard brush and paint that really was runny, despite being enamel, I created even more work.

Now I will have to go back and detail it with a fine brush and some white enamel paint.

It will be nice once done, but maybe it should have been left alone.

This morning started with a smile.


Love a good sunrise or sunset.






What a desperate Bootfair today.

By 6.30 when I got to the field it was filling at the exit already........

That’s a lot of people in a large field.



It was massively full.

But just piles of rubbish, old clothes, and dirty used kitchen stuff.

Saw nothing.


In the end bought a better jockey wheel for the one shed caravan, than one fitted.

£5.00 from an asking price of £8.00

Fetched the trailer today, generous loan by a neighbour 600 meter from home.

He threw in two spare ratchet tie downs to add to my lot.

On e through, I moved it right back and then unpacked all the glass from the Galaxy as collected earlier this week.





Using the last of the deck wood from last years rebuild, I made up a basic crate for them all to sit in.



Piled up.



Closed in, wedged in and to be strapped down before heading out to Derbyshire en-route to Glasgow





Tomorrow Fil and his partner Nikki land in the afternoon in their Sprinter camper van, then we BBQ and early Dark-0-Clock on Tuesday they head out.

Dropping off the glass for a large shed build, and overnight in Derbyshire before heading to Glasgow on Wednesday to collect the Rezin Rockit.

Seems we may be headed in the right direction.

Well, trailer is packed, food has been consumed with gusto


Fil and Nikki are off when the wake up, seems Cumbria is not Derbyshire, but what do I know.

So as with any worthy road trip, food is the foundation

I had suggested we sacrifice something to appease the gods of fossil fuel.

Chopping up trees.





Fire started, and goddess of fire, Nikki ensuring it was hot enough.



Fil who is doing all the hard work, driving to fetch the Rezin Rockit for me.



And there was more.



And lastly, Mr Subtle and Incognito himself, who donated motor and transmission to this build, just headed out get bread and milk.



Nikki has agreed to be the official photographer on the trip, to keep us updated and entertained

Leisurely start to Fil and Nikki’s trip up to go fetch the Thing after spending the night, camped on my driveway after declining a bed inside the house.

I am not losing sleep yet, but certainly laughing at this crazy thing I have started.

As I am stuck on a two day web conference I asked Nikki to do the typical Roadtrip photo reports.

Seems she is enjoying it.



Fil is maybe less so.

Yes. Ugly imho.




So I decided to walk away from the RX8 wheel that was lovely in red and black. But had controls on the front face etc.

So I do have these wheels in my stash.

Collected/bought over time from various sources. Including the crusher.

I think I have an idea of what I like and may do but as always open it for discussion and advice. Sometimes someone else has much better ideas.

This was headed to the council tip if nobody wanted it.

Collection only it said, other side of Portsmouth. It’s HEAVY

No problem, give mate @CraigRK a call to see if he can collect.

No problem he says, will arrange and do it over the weekend.

500kg capacity it seems.

Should lift a Rezin Rockit with ease, before motor is fitted plus my bike and other items as needed.

I have limited data and limited time but here's a quick view from my side.


Having started off by doing nearly 100 miles to get to the start point it was great to arrive and find that Grizz and neighbour Micky had already got the trailer all loaded up and ready for me to hook up.

Grizz had build a crate for the windows which was more solid than many log cabins I've seen - but this is the way of the Grizz.

If it's done for you then it has to be done properly - if it's for someone else then you have to put a bit of extra effort into it :dabone

Truth is, I'm a bit that way too.

While Grizz was doing the last of the strapping I managed to catch him on Grizzcam



Once loaded and ready we settled in to a really nice evening and the first time we've really had a proper chance to 'hang out'

Armed with enough food to feed at least twice as many people as were around the table Grizz set about perfectly cooking some excellent meat and some (also very nice) token vegetables.

It seems that when presented with food and company of that quality you end up eating a lot more of it than you thought and there probably were not as many leftovers as we'd all thought!

Sign of a good night.

The reason for declining a bed in the house was that the plan was to head off at first light but it didn't quite work out that way. No worries when there's no real time constraints.

Woke up to a lovely view from my bedroom window



and being the wonderful host that he is I also found a note on the van



After draining a mug of it's coffee it was time to head off.

All good. It's actually a really nice trailer to tow.

Tried the other camera to see what I could check on the trailer with it.

Arrived at Haggs Bank Bunkhouse for our overnight stop. The place just gets nicer every time I come here.

Excellent, first leg completed with nothing more than a lost number plate an a 'moment' on the moor when a bit too much bouncing caused the brake on the trailer to come on.

If it had been reality TV that would have been made out to be a near-death incident but in truth I just stopped and released it and carried on. Lesson learned, take it slower on bumpy roads.

Crazy new project! I will be at intrigued to watch. Thought about doing something similar as I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler being a direct descendant of the same predecessor. I did not know that they made resin tubs for them so I will be interested to see as you get into it. I thought it would be pretty cool to get aluminum parts from the Philippines for mine to drop the weight and increase the corrosion resistance. No real plans for that now though. Also toyed with lowering it but instead put a little bigger wheels and tires and left the suspension stock. Pretty cool the friends you have and the things that it allows you to do, sometimes from home. I'll enjoy the updates. BTW, I can't believe all that food was for four people.

When you sold your Blazer did they tell you why they're filming Stranger Things in England? Do you watch the show? It's pretty fun for those of us who were alive in the 80s.

Thanks for taking the time to chat.

The English love a Kit Car, mainly due to the 70’s and 80’s cars rotting away before you could empty a tank of gas.
Some are truly butt ugleee. Some are pretty, dainty or functional.
There was nicer looking one, known as Jago Jeep , this one is an Eagle RV

I love the Filipino style Owner type or Tamiya style jeeps, really go karts.and plan is partly to emulate that with this build.

I think the friends all jumping in thing, nationally is not always understood by many. It is all about keeping your “Karma Bucket” Full of good fortune.

I have driven 100’s of miles to pick up motorbikes, detoured for tools etc for people I never met before. But it goes around and comes back. Usually unexpectedly.

I knew the Blazer was headed for a movie role, but got sworn to secrecy.

I do not have Netflix, rather spend the money on tools, BBQ meat or Jack Daniels (joke)

While everyone scurried about, Fil was managing the ratchet straps.

As he mentioned elsewhere, Bill and Gordon have clearly done this a few times before, so the speed at which they loaded and strapped the Rezin Rockit down was impressive.

So much space for very wide wheels and tyres/tires once it is lowered, a lot.





Bill about to replace the plate Fil lost yesterday, that was amazingly sorted out overnight.

Front wheel does not hold air for more than 30 minutes. And it is nasty.





Hood/bonnet strapped down too, in case rubber retainers do a BOIIINNG on the motorway and deposit the hood on another car.





Rear is not much better.

Would love it if I had another two alloys like on the other side.

With a load of straps, enough to create a mummy, the Rezin Rockit was strapped down





£70.00 worth of Mazda RX8 seats as negotiated by Bill strapped down inside the tub.



Love the way the front and rear bumpers have tow balls attached, one for pulling, one for pushing. Seen it used for launching boats.

The petrol cap, in fetching green plastic has all the hallmarks of a Molotov Coctail, just needing a rag and some matches.

So when Bill fetched the RX8 seats from Gordons van, he and Fil needed to test them first.
