Got my '65 back on the road for the first time in probably 20 years after buying it 11 months ago. With its maiden trips to the parts store and Home Depot, it is officially doing what I purchased it to do.

Not with a Ford front end. Do you mean a solid axle with coils and radius arms? Or an independent front suspension?

It should work fine. There will likely be welding involved. Just do your research on the different brackets, panhard bars and steering links available depending on how much lift you want.

Yea I'm a fab guy and I've done this before on a 90 gmc so we could use stock power train . I have swb 64 I did an LS swap on a few years back and if doing great as a daily driver so I have had opertunity to buy another 64 swb and a few other parts fell in my lap so this will be my first 60's LS 4x4 convert .

I've had a 75 Bronco awhile ago I built as a rock crawler and was pretty big on the bronco forums. If you're using factory ford parts, it should be cheap. One thing I would mention to upgrade would be to make what are called "LARS BARS". You mod the radius arms with DOM tubing and lengthen them 6". Add a slight bend to the bar clear the tire during a tight turn. Use a johnny joint in the DOM to frame mount. It will allow more articulation because of less bind on the radius arm. Building yourself a custom 3-link doesn't cost that much more.

I do plan to use the stock ford radius bars and mounts even . It's a road truck so extra articulation is not really a big deal. Thanks for the advice though I may use it on the next off road truck. I will build a better ps hard rod though , something with less angle . I'm not sure how the steering box and tiered will be just yet . I am using a 79 c-10 2x4 owner box and pitman arm .

I am curious about wether I need to drop the trailing arm mounts lower? I think it will wind up with 4" of lift by welding the coil pockets on lower than they were on the ford but I doubt ford owners lower the brackets with a 4" kit maybe they replace the bushing where it clamps on the axle? I know you want a 10degrees of kingpin rollback to drive great .
