Since I get so easily distracted anymore (maybe I always did), I decided to switch gears and play with a tail light scheme I saw on a gold truck some years ago… so I made an adapter plate out of some scrap and well...

I’m not sold yet - but it’s kind of kewl I guess.

Not today but Tuesday. I picked up my truck from the upholstery shop - what a great job they did. A total of $280.00 The Paisley material might be a little too much for most people but I think it looks real good. I doubt many folks would remember but in the late 60's Chrysler offered a paisley print on some of their cars the Plymouth VIP was one of them I believe but I always liked it. In reality the material and the vinyl on the seat are much darker than what shows in the pictures. The vinyl on the seats matches the color of the door panels exactly. He had to replace one broken seat spring and the seat feels much firmer now. I like it!
I also drilled out the bumper brackets and added my Schrader valves for my rear air bags there - fairly hidden yet easily accessible to add air when needed.

Your seat turned out great. Your upholstery guy really knows what he's doing. All the seams are tight, even, and straight. Should provide years of pride and driving comfort!

Gonna grind this stuff down. Prolly making a decision on whether to keep the old girl or buy this 66 gmc with bbw, 351e an the new process 4speed and buddy buckets power steering an brakes! Guy had been working on the rust in the gmc an finished most of the drivers side an has the replacement metal for the passenger. Rot in the firewall is none so just gotta wait an decide what I want?? Kinda torn an can only keep one.

Turtleman - my column is out of a 72 Chevy van. I bought it off eBay. I was the only bidder @ $98.00 & $13.00 shipping if I remember correctly. The seller had crummy pictures but he answered all my questions.

Not a lot.... drove it out of the garage and then back in again near 11pm
Loud, Raucous, Antisocial Thuggery is how my old neighbour would have described what I am planning.

Courier delivered delivered these today.

Note the can of Pepsi Max for perspective, the can fits inside the pipes loosely.

3 inches of deep thundering joy once I build the rest of the system.




The other thing I got today was a 2 berth caravan that had been used for some time as a large dog kennel.

I gutted the curtains, floor mats and all the mattresses before I even towed it home behind Nicola's car (which was today exchanged after failing its MOT )

I had been looking for a small shed to put up around the back at the garage, in which I could store all the parts of the Chevy as I stripped it, when the idea struck me, as I knew the local pub landlord had a 2 berth caravan to sell for £50.00

Before I went down there, I called him and offered £40.00 which he accepted.

This is what I fetched........ 7 foot wide, body 13 foot long.




Back home I started to remove all the stuff inside, which includes a full awning, port-a-loo, water roll, cutlery, glasses, pans, and some other random stuff, including a spare wheel.

Tomorrow I will vacuum clean it on the inside, then take my pressure cleaner to the inside too and wash the inside down, after which it needs to dry out, while I wash down the outsides.

Then park it around back, and start packing truck stuff from the garage into it.

Landed.




With some of the treasures.

Despite being terribly grubby, it has a small toilet onboard and has potential to be restored to use once it has served its purpose as a spares shed.

Great story, enjoy seeing trucks brought back into the family. How on earth did you find it? Looks like it had been sitting in that spot for quite a while. What are your plans for it? Certainly looks restorable. Thanks for sharing.
