Got the door back from the paint shop last week and got it fitted/trimmed out over the weekend. Side trim has been ordered, and Red is sitting out in the parking lot at work as we speak. K

Thanks for pointing out this great GM history. I at the time ordered a big block stripped SS/RS 1968 Camaro. Tried to get it with manual brakes, however, GM rejected my order, and I had to add PBs. That was the only option, other then the big 396 engine and 4 speed. At the time as a senior in HS, I knew the weight of every option. Les |

Parking brake cable, have you replaced yours? Noticed in one of your earlier posts that you had the parking brake pedal zip tied to release lever. Doing the same to mine ( to prevent use until fixed) as the left rear cable sticks and does not release parking brake in rear drum.

Les - I have not repaced my park brake cable.
I don't use it often and when I do it doesn't quite return all the way, allowing the pedal to drop down slightly. I've found if I keep the pedal up then it will release completely over time. On an unrelated note I had to put a water pump on the truck this weekend. I took the opportunity to install the fan shroud that you sent. Thank you very much for that; it is a welcome addition, as my original was pretty busted up. K

Welcome on the fan shroud, One question I may have asked you before, is the big black rear cab insulation board ( between the two rear speakers) in the photo below, standard on all cabs or certain models/ options/ years. Can you help guide me as to where these brackets go on the LY6/engine. Should have taken a picture of them installed. It has been two years since taking it apart. I kind of remember them being a brace between the engine and trans, or bellhousing?? thanks, Les |

Yes - those go from the motor mounts back to some bosses on the bottom of the bell housing.
Regarding the cardboard tray - mine is original; just cleaned up a bit. K

I understand the desire for a stock appearance, but I like to use that area for storage. I built a custom oak box for that area so that I could store what I wanted back there, rather than use a store bought box, which have fixed compartments. I have a lot of stuff back there, from jumper cables to spare v belts, oil, tools, tie down straps, etc.

Thanks for the brace location on the engine/ bell housing. Follow-up question, will they work on my replacement 350 block, e.g. Are the motor mount in same position from rear of block on a 350, as on a 4.3? Also, do you know what force they are counteracting? E.g. Engine torque rotation or stronger engine/bell housing connection. Intermittent Wiper Function One other question, I am changing out the steering column from standard to a tilt one on my 1986' C10, as part of my interior R/R. The tilt column has the intermittent wiper function, however, origional did not. To make the intermittent function work, on the tilt column, is it correct thinking, that I need to add only the "intermittent" module to the wiper wiring harness that come out the lower part of the column, and then plug origional dash wire harness into module?
