Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I have always liked them.
I just got in an 8 light 160 watt strobe light kit. I a looking forward to getting it mounted. I plan on mounting 4 lights in the rear and 4 up front. The 4 in the rear will be in the back up lights and in the lights in the bumper. Up front not too sure yet. Would like to find a way to get 2 of them in the headlights.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
I love strobe lights!!! I'm going to put some on my truck too!!
My suggestion on the fronts what a buddy of mine did on his was drilled a hold into the headlight and mounted it like that, or maybe what you could do is mount some "day time running lights" in the front bumper and mount them in there?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
There are some 7" round H4 conversion lenses that have a second smaller bulb for signal/indicator use. What all bulb sizes are available for the strobes?
For instance, both of these Hellas accept a 124 bulb in addition to the primary H4. http://www.hella.co.nz/3-189-805/pro...ow-Beam-Insert http://www.hella.co.nz/3-189-153/pro...Hardened-Glass

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Well so much for the strobes... Thought I should test them out before I install. Glad I did. The box powers up, but no flash.
That sucks. So far I have not got the answer I am looking for from the ebay company.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Got a little something in the mail today...
Special thanks again to 83GMCK2500 for putting me onto this. Now I need to get the grill finished with the black inserts. Just temporarily put this bowtie on my grille. I think it is a nice addition and will look great when its all done.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
WOW was that a loooong trip. Just spent a couple hours looking through your ENTIRE build thread. Why you ask?? Does this guy have or want to build one of these Goliath s? NO. I Started a build thread on Rustoleum paint jobs over on the 47-59 thread and was wanting opinions. Somebody pointed me in this direction because you had some experience with it. I Just couldn't pull myself
away. Very nice work. I saw a F&%D done up this way and always thought it was a cool idea. My hat is off to you. I was really impressed with the paint on your blue truck and I'm probably going that rout as well. I subscribed here as well as your YouTube channel.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Good evening All,
While I have not finished my C50, I really only have the interior and a few small things to do on it to bring it to completion for me. I planned on doing the interior near the spring. In the mean time, I was searching through the classifieds and found my new winter project... A 1962 Grumman Olson. Here is a link to the build thread... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post6484014 And a couple of photos of it.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
Based upon your project Im thinking of starting one of my own similar except mine has dire department history . Can you give a newbie some advice as to any tips or tricks you learned as you went along? and have you ever done this kind of work on a truck that has air brakes?

I had a few things along the way that I had to overcome: Tools I had to update my impact gun to remove the lugs, I ended up getting a 1 inch impact gun from Harbour Freight. My parents winter in South Texas and got me a good deal on it. I had to update my air chisel to something more powerful then what I had, got a sufficient CP for about a 100 bucks. Had to buy a new 1/2 inch drill to re do the cut shackles. I also invested in a industrial drill bit. New drill under 100, drill bit about 25. That was my biggest hurdle throughout the build. My inability to wait for help and extra hands made things harder. But a little ingenuity with my engine hoist went a long way. I really cant give you any advice on the air brakes, as I have never been involved with that type of system. Hope this gives you a little insight.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion
It helps a lot the truck im starting with is a lot longer than yours but im assuming the size doesn't matter> they guy im buying it from is kind of hedging as he is trying to sell it to someone who will preserve the fire department aspect of it.. I wanted that truck because its in excellent shape already and the work would be limited to the rear half of the truck I would even keep the orange and white color scheme.. I was also thinking of making my bed dump..
