I really like the picture of your truck (does he have a name?) next to the tree. Truck just has "the look". For me it is hard to describe though you know it when you see it.

Sounds like some exceptional test runs happening. Congrat's!
Thanks AD Ya I'm looking it over every time I come home. The truck has taken on the name of "lower50s" but at home we call it "The GMC"

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Well still lots to do to my truck, but it has slowed now because I have to get my Jeep ready for offroading. Leaving in 9 days for an extended weekend.
So today I cut a rubber back carpet to use as floor mat for now.

So here it is. My friend owns a cnc machine shop (mills and lathes) http://www.truenorthmachine.ca/ I sent him a drawing and sked if he could make some lug nut spikes for me. Then they where chromed. They are 3" long.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

On the road - you lucky bastard! I'm so looking forward to stop spending all of my time and money on mine, and start driving it. Getting very close to final assembly but I'm afraid my painter is going to let me down. He's already went from "absolutely going to make your deadline" to "I think we can still make your deadline" to a simple "we'll try".

I really like the pinstriping. I'm always in awe of people with any artistic abilities. They just see that stuff in their head and then free hand it like there's nothing to it.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Don't worry II_slow your time will come and then you will be driving around with a permasmile like I am . That really sucks about your painter, can you use someone else? The striping looks even better in person, I just told him what I didn't want. Amazing talent!!

Re: My 52 GMC Build

I have been driving the truck all over town. It is the most cost effective vehicle I own due to fuel price. Diesel is 20 cents cheaper per liter and like .75 cents cheaper a gallon. I have been touching up a few things like adjusting the door latches now that the seals have broken in. My glove box arrived only took 4 weeks. When I swap the gears I want to go somewhere. I used the truck as a truck Saturday, had to go get 3 sheets of plywood and and some steel it's the only vehicle it would fit in. LOL

Yes Kees lots of smiles.
Drove the truck to work this morning, trying to sneak out of the neighborhood with a old diesel is not easy 250 almost trouble free miles and counting.

Nice lug nuts!

They look cool, but I'm surprised that truckers run these on the front wheels of a semi-truck where they're sticking wayyy out there. I'd hate to walk into them.

What a Nice ride you have there and Great to see it on the Road so have fun and Enjoy !!!
I wish Diesel was cheaper here in the lower 48 as it is usually about .30 more a gallon !

right on man, putting the test miles on it is always a great feeling. But not better than actually hauling stuff with it. That is the best feeling, using it as a truck.

Thanks John. My nuts are 3" long LOL but don't stick out. I think the truckers do it to slice open all the plastic and tinfoil cars on the road now.

Thanks Teacher I don't seam to have much of a traction problem, it hooks and goes. Other than the short gearing it is really nice to drive.

So I need some help. I went to install my glove box tonight and the defrost nozzle is stopping me from getting the top screws lined up, am I doing something wrong?

it should slide in there tight. Try moving your defrost a bit, it should move out of your way. Def a tight squeeze under there.

Thanks joedoh. I did have the other before, now I have the 50-53. The 47-49 are not as tall and will not fit the opening.

Nice to see you are still enjoying it! Is the off road park you're close to anywhere near the big fire up there? I had to laugh about your comment on trying to sneak out of the neighborhood with a diesel. Everything I have is a loud diesel. It does make it a bear to leave early without waking everyone up.
