I think that is the same or similar to what he is using.

What I used in the past (and might use now) is just run a switch for 12v to the amp turn on, then run a headphone to RCA plug from your iPod/MP3 player into the RCA input on the amp, or the crossover input.

Turn the switch on and push play.

Re: A Suburban Joins The Herd

Ok, so I got to ask... I am looking at picking up a burb and wondered what I need to look out for. I know the obvious body mounts and frame and all, but is there any odd things I should keep an eye out for when purchasing?

I like it! One question though, how did you make the grille bars? I too run a GMC grille on a bowtie truck and have been looking to fill that space...

Can you elaborate on this upgrade to your Caddy, is a am/fm radio needed or will it work with a stock am radio as well...how complicated is the install??? I looked at the pics in the other guys post, would be great to have music control for an Ipod. Although the oldies station that comes in on the AM radio is great for nostalgic cruising.

I managed to go through all 36 pages during the slow work minutes. I have a few comments, not necessarily in order.

First, because it is the 1st of february and this has been a hellacious winter so far, i am envious of your winters. I had to clean up another foot of snow last night and we already had about 3' on the ground. Car shows in december? Can't imagine it. But i'll take my summers, short as they are, over yours anyday.

Second, you guys have a nice group of enthusaists down there. It looks like real fun. Lots of socializing. For me, living up in the corn fields in fly-over country, the board here satisfies some of that itch. I'm hoping to get one of mine out to some meets or cruises this summer.

3rd, i really like this build. It's not something i would build because it's just over the top cool, and that's not me. Now i think i like this style of burb more than the 67-72, which a couple days ago was not the case. I like the big sliding windows, the roof line, very cool. That would be a very rare rig up this way. I might have the only 69-72 blazer/jimmy for dozens of miles in my area.

Anyway, thanks for posting up the builds. I've enjoyed it, learned some things, and look forward to the c-50 build. I also went through the lifted truck build you did and like how that turned out too.
very kool thanks!!

yeah you can leave the stock radio in . Am/fm doesn't matter, you dont use the radio at all, my crew cab has port in the radio that i can run my ipod though like many new cars do (my2008 truck also does)in my sub case its own power supply ,on off switch and volume control, its slick

Thanks man, cool 'Burb...I know Sub really dig the Creamsicle flatz color, what brand of paint did you use, any special ingredients to get that sheen, and what about maintenance after the fact??? Heard good things about Ace It as a cleaner.

Re: A Suburban Joins The Herd

I'd drop the front of the C-50 down to where you lose the air gap between the fender and the top of the tire and still be able to turn the wheel. Carry the running boards all the way to the rear wheel, and open up the rear wheel opening and either mimic the front wheel flare or bolt on a pair of 67-72 stepside fenders. Then level it from front to back. Then, I would find the *****in' side trim and really accessorize it like a loaded-up C-10 (chrome front bumper, mirrors, Custom Cab emblems, etc). I'd try to make it look as factory as possible and watch people scratch their heads in disbelief.

Just brain-storming so follow me on this: What if you found another C-50 getting parted out and unbolted the front fender flares and flipped them around where the left front would go on the right rear and vice versa? It looks like the shapes would match.

That thing is too cool! You are a true maniac.......
