Re: good question
Here's my girls. The little one is my truckin' buddy. My wife will ride to car shows with me, and she's cool about helping. She'll fetch tools, hold this while I tighten that. Married 9 years now, and she still calls me "baby"!
Gotta love them southern gals.

Re: good question
My wife let me buy the truck with the understanding that I would only spend a little money on it AND that she wanted to drive it when it was finished. It's been a year now and about $45K, maybe it will be on the road in 6 months. I will have pis of her driving it then. I better have pictures of her driving it then!

Re: good question
My wife loves to ride in my truck, but when I mention driving it she flips out. She would rather walk to the store than try to drive three on the tree lol.

Re: good question
My wife drove my old GMC for about a month after we sold her Mustang. This thing had no A/C no PS and no PB. Not mention that it was a 3sp on the column that you had to double clutch going from second to third to keep it from grinding. I tried to get her to drive my K10 since it had A/C but she wouldn't do it! (it was July/August)

Re: good question
I used to have 72 Blazer when we first got married 25 years ago, the starter would stick and you would have to crawl underneath and grab the harmonic balancer/pulley and turn it to get the starter to release. My wife was driving that with her twin sister and it stuck in town...so here are the twins, my wife 6 months pregnant, under the truck turning the motor to get the starter free.
don't think she would do that anymore..........sorry no pics |

Re: good question
My wife is from a group friends who race front engine railers and flat bottoms (record holder "Nitemare") Once she got over my rules,
that the only time she could drive it was when I was NOT in it, or have been drinking, and she is to drive it with the respect it deserves, she loves it. However my local buddies (police) would love to ticket me, they give her space for all the burnouts she does. Al. Last edited by IAFF2407; 07-09-2007 at 11:51 AM. |

Re: good question
My wife litterly pushes me out to the shop. She's into old vehicles not the way I am but she knows that it is my passion and she wants to see me happy.
She's in charge of all the wood staining, sanding etc. for the box floor of the 70'. She also helps out by keeping the shop floor clean by mopping and swifting it on a regular basis so that it's kept clean for me to work on and dirt is kept out of the house, [Linda is a neat freak.] Having said that my wife also knows when I want to be left alone in my shop. She takes advantage of these opertunities to do a little house cleaning, go shopping or what ever. She did the wood on our 50' Chev so this is not the first time for her to do a wood floor project. Thankyou Lord for my wife, the attached pictures are of the 50' and the 70' bed wood that Linda did for our trucks. esll. Linda likes to ride in the trucks but it's no big deal to her ....

Re: good question
My '72 was my primary High School rig. The wife(gf back then) rode in it constantly since her car was always breaking down. She loves my '67 but it's a three on the tree and hasn't attempted to drive it.
So, she has no issues with the trucks, it's my b-body Chevrolets she hates. |

Re: good question
My wife can't stand my truck. She doesn't like to sweat and it's too loud and smokey, blah blah blah. And, it takes time away from her.
My daughter on the other hand loves my truck and wants to ride in it exclusively in it. She's started saying "punch it daddy, don't let that car get ahead of us". I have a '90 work truck that she says is "too quiet" and can we put some louder mufflers on it! |

Re: good question
My wife prefers not to get in my truck. She will if no other car is available. I have spoiled her with new 4wheel drive SUVs over the years and she doesn't see the attraction of riding in an uncomfortable, loud, unsafe (this means no airbags to her) truck. It may be a good thing though. When she rides with me she complains about how I drive it! Also it is a good excuse to get away from her cause if I tell her I'm taking the truck she won't go. I love my wife but too much togetherness can be a bad thing!

Re: good question
The night my 68 truck blew the motor, my wife was in it. The night my yellow 67 wouldn't start she was in it too. I call her jinxsy now. All went well with my 67 chevelle, but she was in our other car going to the show..but I always get a little scared if she might get in one...

Re: good question
Shortly after my wife I started dating, back in '74, I bought a '72 GMC 3/4 ton, long bed, with a 350 and a 4 speed in the floor. She drove it while I commuted with the '68 VW.
When we had a motorhome she would take turns driving it. Now she will drive my '92 GMC K-3500 on occasion, but so far hasn't driven the old '71 C-10. She rides in either one when we are going for farm supplies or building material. Her vehicle of choice is "The Marquis", as she calls it. |
