Re: Project 61.....It is what it is.
Finally got the bed on today. The exhaust was run. 3 inches from each collector back with Thrush Welded mufflers. Sounds great. Went on my maiden test drive too. Engine pulls perfectly, 700r4 had me cruising at 65 without having the engine screaming, power disc brakes bring me back to zero at eye popping speed, power steering was amazing, and the airbags are damn near leak free.
Tomorrow I'm putting a toggle for the compressor so I can kick it on without the key needing to be on and possibly killing my electric choke on the carb. But other than that, shes done. So thanks for the kind words and all the advice from this wonderful forum. And a special thanks to B&B Restorations in Port Clinton, Ohio. Without them I couldn't have gotten this done in the three wee deadline. If any of you guys in Ohio need work done, I would recommend them without hesitation. Here's the pics and a video at the bottom. Startup and working the bags........maybe a burnout later.

Nice job man. At least you got that broken bolt fixed from way back in the beginning of the thread.

Re: Project 61.....It is what it is.
Yeah. 1/2 SMC fill valves and lines, with 3/8 SMC dumps. The front dumps have plugs with holes drilled through them to try to get the whole truck to dump while staying level.

Re: Project 61.....It is what it is.
Here's the update....I deploy to Afghanistan next month and have been doing workups in 29 Palms for the past few months. Hardly anytime to work on the truck or anything else for that matter. I'll be gone till may and then hopefully can get some stuff started when I get home. So the truck will have to wait for a while.
I'll have plenty of time to perfect a plan before I get home.

Re: Project 61.....It is what it is.
Finally on the way back home. Been a rough last 7 months and am definitely looking forward to wrenching on my truck. I've rebuilt it probably a million times over in my head. I'll update as the work gets done.
Thanks to everyone for the support. Everyone over here is forever grateful of every letter, box, or package. God Bless. Daniel

Re: Project 61.....It is what it is.
welcome back. just read your thread and cant wait to see what you have for an update. I would keep the dent on the driver side fender, although i do have that same fender replaced with a black aftermarket one and kinda dig it. or bang it out if you ever need to, the replacements dont quite fit perfect. in any case, the truck looks perfect as is.

Welcome back! Good to hear you are safe.
Wow, that's a coincidence - there was a high profile military operation over the weekend, and you're coming home right after... Your badassness level may have risen even beyond your sweet truck
