weld it around the window opening and along the sides under the door weatherstrip, bond it to the back of the cab at the bottom and the inner roof at the top. The only thing I don't like is that where the inner window panel and inner roof meet is there is no way to get clamps to pull them tight so I may end up welding the seam and body working the inside of the cab, kind of waiting to get the panel fully installed first. The 22" that came with the chassis are sold.

This is how mine was done. Selective spot welds @ the door opening & cab wall; the window opening & upper inner cab seam was panel bonded. Once the interior piece was fit into place, it was a pretty good fit (and I'm particular about that kind of stuff).

What is it with you Ohio guys? You guys have the ability to NAIL the look every time. Barry Lobeck (RIP) and Scott Sullivan were two of my favorite builders and they always got it right, and it looks like their style has rubbed off on all of you guys.

I am originally from Louisville, and it took me a long time to convince the California guys that there are some bad-ass rides in the Kentucky/Ohio area.

I am originally from Louisville, and it took me a long time to convince the California guys that there are some bad-ass rides in the Kentucky/Ohio area.

Funny you should say that because I think a huge majority of badass hot rods come from dayton/louisville/indy area. I'm way up north in Ohio thats not to say the cars from those areas didn't influence me. I remember back in '88 sitting in study hall reading about scott sullivan driving his Cheese whiz 55 cross country for Hot Rod mag, I thought that was so cool and here we are 20+ years later and I get to joke with him that I'm stuffing a bigger rear tire in the 54 Chevy I was doing then the Chevy he was building.
I also think Barry Lobeck was a great guy and am honored to be able to visit with him before he passed on. Billet Specialties did a special Limited edition wheel called the "Lobeck" and I along with my friend Gary Case and Glenn Grozich, owner of Billet Specialties were able to present it to him personally at his home, it really was a touching experience.

it belongs to a guy not far from Indy, it was supposed to be a quickie airride job, turned into a mustangII, mini tubs, narrowed rear, 4w disc, etc. It has all original drivetrain with 15k original miles, 6cyl stick with the torque tube

What did you have to do to the hood to clear those front inner fenders?

Oh man, that '54 is BAD!

That's really cool that you knew Barry. I never got a chance to meet him, but I heard he was a character. I have met Scott when he was out here in California at Bob Bauder's shop and they were building the FastLane Fairlane for Hot Rod Magazine back in the late '80s. I used to see him from time to time at different places, but he got really into motorcycles and kind of faded out of sight. I still occasionally email Kevin Erisman back in Dayton, and he and Scott hang out.

I was so blown away by Barry's old maroon '32 highboy that he built way back in the day that my '55 truck will have some of the same features. Maroon paint, 16x12 ETIII rear wheels, louvers, and a slammed stance. One day, I'll build my highboy, but this will suffice in the meantime.

What's the status of Scott's bubble-top build? I met him years ago (CheezWiz 55 days) @ the Street Machine Nats. We parked in the same area & he was super nice guy. I read a year or 2 ago where he was building a bubble-top but have yet to see or hear about it lately....

I saw a red Henry J that Scott did recently in Hot Rod Mag. It was maybe a year ago. It was clean and simple. I love his Cheese Wiz '55.

the last I talked to him, he was going pretty hard on the 53/54 he was working on and the bubble was on hold. He said he picked up a roof from a 61 and he was putting it on the 62 Impala. I'm sure it will be over the top cool.

trimmed the back of the inner supports and the edge of the hood sides. I'll post picks up when I disassemble the front clip for paint
