Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
haha very nice build, you make it look so simple like its just bolt right in place drop in swap. did you have to relocate any cross members, or trim any frame rails? do you have any pics of your engine mounts, engine clearance shots?

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
Well still slow but picking up steam. I have done about 5 automotive projects this year so far and none being this truck. Rebuilt the suspension on my dads 70 Buick GS, did a bunch of work on my girl friends 1970 Bronco, sided my house, but no truck.
Last few weeks I have built motor mounts and fitted the engine centered and squarely into the frame. The height is just high enough to clear the steering and k-member, but still get the hood closed. The pics I posted earlier were deceiving, I had only mocked the engine up for placement but it was not permanently mounted. I just installed a set of 1,500lbs/inch coil springs and fabricated the mounts. Next I am building a transmission crossmember, a crossmember for the carrier bearing on the dodge driveshaft, and setting up all the pinion angles. |

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
J cst 10, save yourself some hassles now and get the poly engine mounts. I guarantee those stock koreanese ones will break easily! Build is looking great though!

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
Getting close to having a working prototype! Trying to get this thing started and moving under its own power in the next few weeks. Here is my clutch set up. This was the project that shelved this truck because I didn't want to think too hard. Finally bit the bullet and came up with something that I am hoping works.
Notice how nice the factory dodge clutch bracket fits on the C10 pedal assembly. |

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
I just need to stop buying other cars and trucks and get this one done. I got a 68 Plymouth satellite on the road, sold it, then decided I was going to finish this thing. A month went by and I bought a '59 Chevy apache truck. I'm trying my hardest not to even look at the Apache until I get this thing started and rolling.

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
Good luck focusing on one build. I have the same issue.

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
I do the same thing. I want to start on my truck but, I'm in the middle of installing a Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe rear window and trunk lid on a Buick Regal Grand National.

Re: Cummins 12 Valve swap
Yeah this truck more than anything I've ever owned I seem to find more excuses not to work on it. At any one time I've got about 3 car/truck projects and 1 house project and they all get finished besides this truck!
