well, I knew it was too good to be true. I halfway understand the guy, but I'm a little ticked that a man's word isn't what it used to be. Had a smokin deal worked out for a set of 4 285/75/16's a/t's with only 400 miles on them. Made the deal over the phone last night, contacted him this morning, had to go home and swap trucks to go pick them up. He calls just as i was hitting the pavement, to let me know someone called and doubled the price I was going to pay. So, the search continues. I'm tempted to just go get another 7.50X16 mud grip and call it good. Dang things are $150 now, for a bias ply tire. I've got the itch to finish Henrietta, though. Also still searching for a alluminum rim like the other 3 on there now. I need a used one on the cheap. Steelies are also possible, but never cleaned them up.

Finally got the hood painted. Should have taken it off, stood it up straight, and waited for cooler weather......but didn't. I'll smooth off the powdery spots and hit it with another coat later, but this will do.

Thanks. And just for the record, CLR does wonders for the letters on the hood. After painting the hood, I soaked the letters in a coffee can with clr and water. Took them out one at a time and scrubbed them with a scrub brush, then rinsed, dried, and put them back on. They look better in person than in the photos. Very pleased with the results.

And this evening got the rattle-can bedliner sprayed on the sides and tailgate. Needs another coat. Probably 2 more cans @ $4.99 each. Then got the headache rack and tool box in place. I think I'll wait for daylight to drill holes to mount them. Rubber mat going on the bed floor.

Keep the front bolts of the headache rack at least 8"s away from the front, they tend to crack the bed if the front cant move around a little.

I'm getting registration this week, and inspection. Should be legal by next weekend, so I'm calling her done. Still some things to tweak, add, change, but I should be driving her a couple times a week from here on out. Went for a little shake-down drive this afternoon. Drives just like 67 K20 should. Here she is on the way out to the pavement.

it's officially legal. Got the registration and old tags assigned to it yesterday. Drove her into town this morning for safety inspection. Ran like a champ, no issues. Even got the gas gauge working again. I don't know why, but I just had to have old original 67 plates for this truck, here they are all nice and legal.

Still haven't got the rim/tire deal figured out. I do think I have some 8 lug wagon wheels lined up. flint70step came by today for a while. We were going to tune the carb a bit, but discovered I had 1 bad plug that was making it run rich. The other plugs were textbook perfect. Smells better, too. Then took Flint for a short ride down the county road. Flint is a good guy, knows his stuff.

i found me some 8 lug wagon wheels, will be a couple of weeks before I get them. Don't drive it much, one tire is no good, so babying it till I get some good ones on there. As soon as I get the tires done on Henrietta, I'll be pulling the 68 panel wagon out to get it going again.

Brought these home today. Scrubbed a bit with clr and hot water. Still need a little stronger cleaning, but they are in great shape. Now if I can just find some good cheap tires.

Had been trying to find a set of 4 good used tires, but came across 2 really good 285/75/16's, BFG AT's, so got em and had them mounted on the wagon wheels. 2 more tires, and I'm rolling.

Nice. If my truck looked like that I would be happy. Somewhere along the line somebody carefully crafted the body out of bondo and now it shows. Ohio likes road salt.

I thought about getting 2 new ones. There's a big chain tire store in Austin advertising buy one, get the second for $10. Called them, and that's only good on a couple of tires, not what I want. Yep, this is a budget deal all the way. Waiting pays off, I got that pair of good ones for $80. And had the wagon wheels given to me. Patience, grasshopper.

Despite back problems, I got some stuff done today. 14 yr old sons are great for the grunt work. The air cleaner was obstructing some of the carb linkages, and riding on the HEI distributor. I'm not a fan of chrome, but this fixed my problems.
And put on my 2 new to me tires and wagon wheels. Can't use 4wd till I get em up front, but we're in a drought here, so shouldn't be a problem. I like the wagon wheels much better.
