Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.
Man everybody loves that truck. Before i said it was an auto but it is a 3 speed. but it is a 327 bbw truck. it actually used to belong to my dads friend who worked at the yard for a bit. he was putting a clutch in it one day at his house and the truck slipped off the jack and it wedged the tip of his fingers between the frame and a block. nobody was home and he had to sit their all day until some body came home. that's why the trans is sitting in the floor board.

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.
When I was a kid in the early 1950's there was a scene like this in Richmond California just North of the Bay Bridge. Cars from the 20's and 30's were stacked up around 20-30 feet high and the pile paralleled the freeway for several miles. There must have been thousands of cars all munched together.
They also had a perpetual pile of tires on fire at the same location. The smoke covered the area and smelled really bad. Everytime we drove by there I parked my chin on the quarter window of our 48 Oldsmobile and just boggled at the amount of cars in the stack, and every one of them was square with separate headlights next to the radiator. It seemed like such a waste to a very young car enthusiast.

I think that bottom truck is on a suburban frame.

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.
I went up last Saturday and was more than pleased with Travis and what they had on hand. I plan on going back to buy a whole car when I build a lead slead/lowrider one day. So don't hesitate at all to deal with these guys. Very prompt on communication and nice to deal with. I picked up a nice SWB bed and a BBW glass and inner panel for a very fair price.

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.
Even damaged the 49 Plymouth bumper on the rear of the first truck in today’s post is probably worth more than all the rest of the truck. The front bumper is from a 1950 Dodge or DeSoto I believe. Looks to be in nice condition, but no real demand for those. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.
I also have a question.
Great collection you have. Does one still get the small chrome lip fitted to the top of the door in this pic?? I like it because it is a quirky thing. If so, where do I look, or must I try find a pair of used ones?

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.
I have em as a factory option on my truck. I will echo what has been said about Travis. Good honest man who's knowledge of these trucks is off the chain. I do not believe he is 30 years old and you would think he was driving these things in the '60s he has such a knowledge base. Every time I have an extra 2-300 bucks the boss lady is unaware of, I make a beeline for his AO. I find all kinds of things I can't possibly live another day without! Thanks Travis for helping me.
