I was able to get under there and get a measurement today. From the same starting point as in my pic above the hole is at 3.5"

I might have missed it if it was posted because I'm mobile, but I'm going to do this upgrade and I want to use this system for the 69-72 where they went to the floor pedal instead of a handle.

I kind of like the handle on my 67 but often thought it would be nice to have a few gauges mounted in that location.

The bottom two photos shows the cable where it attaches to the brake handle lock mechanism under the dash/steering column.

I hope this helps.

If any of you other folks have photos of your 1966-1972 style park brake systems, feel free to add them in here. That way the folks who are pondering doing this swap will have a better idea of what parts they need and how it all goes together.

FYI: this isn't a plug for their parts, but the LMC Truck 60-66 catalog has a pretty good list/exploded view of the parts for this brake system in their catalog. You can check it out on their website.

Many other vendors sell some of the bits and pieces, so check around and do some research.

As always, check the Review Board here on the forum before buying any parts from anywhere.

p.s. some of you may notice the bolt with the nut sitting by the cable. I think the bracket was an aftermarket part. I do not recall if the bracket was for the '65 c10 or the later truck... however, when I got it all set up, the cable sheathing itself would not stay secure in place, therefore nothing worked. You can see where the coating is torn from this movement.

This was my good ol' boy solution. I used a bolt as a spacer to snug things up.

a fellow old truck pal(64fleetside on the stovebolt page) had this to share : I've had a couple slip too, woog-I've usually removed the clamp and smacked it w/a hammer, then it fit tighter.

p.s. update/edit 01/03/2013 - a link to a thread here on the forum with up close shot of the original park brake mechanism for 60-65
Can any one help me id and find the top cable clamp used to secure the cable so you can actuate the cable/brake. there is a pic in this post, but i can not find this clamp anywhere. my truck is a 66 but the calm is missing. thanks Allan
